Kent Shockley shows off a bit as he prepares for a high speed run in the Shockwave Triple Jet Engine Truck. Shockwave is powered by three Pratt and Whitney j34-48 jet engines which are capable of producing a combined total of 18-19,000 pounds of thrust. The Shockwave reaches over 300 mph ( 483 km/h) during a show and is slowed by two drogue parachutes (along with some oversized disc brakes.)

Feel the HEAT!

According to www.shockwavejets.com, the Shockwave holds the world record for the 1/4 mile in trucks with 256 mph (412 km/h) in 6.36 seconds. It also holds the world land speed record for trucks with a top speed of 376 mph (605 km/h) (noted in the Guinness Book of World Records). This site further notes that the power to weight ratio of the Shockwave is nearly identical to the Space Shuttle and is capable of 3 g of vertical acceleration.

The day before this image was captured one of the afterburners blew a large hole in the side of an engine and destroyed one of the two drogue chutes. I am sure this made for an interesting stop! All was well and Mr. Shockley and air show personnel were able to acquire the necessary materials to repair the engine before today's show despite it being Labor Day Weekend.

Not much of a racing bicycle - but still a classic vintage lightweight.

My trusted French touring bike. We have spent so many kilometers together that it has become a part of me.

Bought as a frame in the early 80-ies and then built with Huret Duopar (titane) TA and Mafac parts. Unfortunately I did not buy the original panniers/racks that was available for this frame at the time. Yes....I was not very wise......I know....

Somewhere in the late 80-ies/early 90-ies I changed it to various Campagnolo parts from different time periods.

Seatpost: Super Record

Cranks, Euclid

Derailleurs: Centaur rear (the old group) , Euclid front

Hubs: Record high flange 40 spoke

Shifters: Record bar ends

Brakes: Record OR, rear and Record nomal reach on drop bolt in front. Super Record levers

Headset: Super Record

The racks are Blackburn. I made my own rear lowrider out of a front Blackburn - using only one straight chromemoly rod as "extra" nothing else is modyfied. Has worked perfectly over the years.

Paint and luglining was made by myself at the change to Campagnolo. It is an AUDI colour called "ragusa" - dark green metallic. It has deterioated over the years and developed some form of "spider web" look when looking from certain angles.

Last weekend I found this stripped and dicarded mountain bike. I've already added items to my liking. It had no brakes or shifters and was in pretty bad shape. It looked like someone had stollen all the parts off it and left the remains. I don't know what brand it is but it does feel light, even with the steel hubs, so I'm suspecting it's a bike of some quality with chromemoly tubes.

This is the bike as I bought it from its original owner. it is 100% intact here including the original tires and tubes. Some superficial rust in the stem and frame. The rim was cracked in several areas - not uncommon for this type from what I've read on the internet.

Hey Guys,

I have a small tube bender for 1/4 , 5/16 and 3/8...

it's a Craftsman for soft tubing....

I've been wanting a heavier bender, I found one...

It starts at 3/8" and goes up from there... The biggest sizes will bend square tubing too.

I bent a test piece of 3/8" Chromemoly.... Turned out nice...

I bought the kit at Northern tool for $144 , comes with a nice case too.

Here's some pictures of it...
