Venezuela,
…once upon a time, 1990 vintage photo
Venezuela, Choroni, Puerto Colombia, known for its beautiful sandy beaches, the largest beach here, besides the smaller bays, is the 1.2 km long Playa Grande. Open to the crystal clear, sky-blue Caribbean Sea, the 50 mtr wide beach of soft, light sand is lined with coconut palms towards the valley behind.
Choroni, in the state of Aragua is one of the most beautiful colonial-style villages with the typical Latin flair.
Since there is actually only "summer" in Venezuela, the fishermen with the many small "Lanchas", -boats-, have season all year round & earn their livelihood more with shipping tourists to other small bays in the area than with fishing, …their shuttle service is absolutely reliable.
The cocoa produced in around Choroni & Chuao in this area is one of the highest quality cocoa, the name "Chuao" is also an international name for cocoa of the highest quality. The cocoa grows wild & natural, except for the harvest, nobody cares about the trees, no pesticides etc. or genetic manipulation, which is probably one of the reasons for the fine taste, as well as the salty sea air.
