L'INDIFFERENTE

THE INDIFFERENT

On the 300th anniversary of its birth, the Venice Carnival returns to enchant the world from February 14 to March 4, 2025, with a special edition, entitled “Il tempo di Casanova”, dedicated to the timeless figure of the Venetian.

Hundreds of rowing boats, decorated and colorful, are led by masked rowers who gather at Punta della Dogana. After having crossed the most beautiful waterway in the world, a colorful choreography will envelop the Rialto Bridge before the great party in Erbaria.

amidst the vibrant bustle of palma de mallorca's market hall, a fishmonger, his features etched with the story of many a dawn, strikes ice with a wooden board. each blow a practiced step in the dance of preservation, scattering crystal shards like confetti over a stage of chilled greens. the ice, once tamed, will nestle treasures from the mediterranean's depths into their plastic crate carriages. with each meticulous swing, the rhythm of tradition beats against the tempo of modern commerce, a performance repeated daily yet always uniquely his own.

These four Anemone shrimps (Ancylomenes sp.1) were nicely aligned, facing the camera. It tried to have them all together. They really looked like they were executing some kind of choreography for me.

Tonight's is another one of those, "oh no! It's 10pm and I haven't shot anything!" nights and thankfully Tim was up for helping me do another light painting portrait. We did this in the living room. I'm gonna have to start getting better at the painting part the first and second shots because 5-6+ times of this sort of shot can get pretty tiring, lol. I didn't have another one to choose from either. I just kept shooting until I got the composition exactly the way I wanted it with minimal movement on Tim's part. He was awesome and this is perfect. Thank goodness flashlights! ;o) The ONLY editing I did was to convert this to black and white. No other contrast, levels or curves were tweaked. If I adjusted any of those, it would throw the tiny little lines within each line (that are created by the individual led's in the 9-head flashlight) to completely disappear. I particularly like these because it adds subtle "light-texture" and gives it a more painterly quality.
