It's not easy being a proofreader by nature. Can you spot the improper usage on the billboard? Here's a hint:
"It's no fun to feel envy or jealousy because both make you feel inadequate. Envy is when you want what someone else has, but jealousy is when you're worried someone's trying to take what you have. If you want your neighbor's new convertible, you feel envy. If she takes your husband for a ride, you feel jealousy." www.vocabulary.com/articles/chooseyourwords/envy-jealousy/
Correcting this sign is child's play in comparison with solving the seemingly intractable problems that plague Portland today. Foremost among them are historically unprecedented numbers of homeless people, a record number of homicides and the catastrophic wounds inflicted on Portland's once-enviable downtown by the pandemic and repeated destructive rampages by the city's illiberal and nihilistic anarchists (as if there were any other kind).
Only a spin doctor on the payroll of the city or Multhomah County would have the gall to claim our elected officials are equal to the challenge of arresting the city's decline and leading it back to its once-enviable status as the city where young people go to retire. www.cnsnews.com/blog/lars-larson/portlandia-no-joke-city-...
Enter People for Portland, the activist organization whose billboard appears above. I am surely not alone in being relieved that a group of savvy and experienced grownups with a record of accomplishments is pressuring City Hall to make desperately needed reforms.
Here is People for Portland's pitch:
Had enough?
Politicians at all levels of government are doing too little, too slowly, to rescue our broken city.
Take action today. Make your voice heard.
DEMAND ACTION NOW
SHARE YOUR STORY
DONATE
Let’s come together and demand bold, urgent action from City Hall.
Portland: What Needs to Happen
End the Humanitarian Crisis on Our Streets
Transition homeless Portlanders from inhumane, dangerous camps to safe, sanitary temporary housing solutions with access to mental health and addiction services
Strengthen Accountability & Justice
Require body cameras on all police to ensure transparency and accountability for those who enforce the law and those who break the law
Reform & Reinvest in Public Safety
Expand the Portland Street Response to engage those with mental health and addiction challenges; add more police for neighborhood patrols and to reduce rising violent crime
Restore Cleanliness & Pride
Initiate immediate government action for sustained citywide clean-up of garbage, dangerous waste, and graffiti.

Naturally, People for Portland (P4P) has attracted naysayers, all of them on the left.
The woke accuse P4P of wanting to perpetuate a racist status quo.
Some of the uncomprehending youngsters on Reddit are spooked by things they lack the knowledge and experience to understand. They see lobbyists and substantial sums of money and assume the worst, namely that P4P is a front organization for our corporate overlords, the bad actors who are bent on keeping us in our place.
I believe P4P is inviting criticism by not disclosing its donors and by being insufficiently transparent about its organizational structure.
However, considering the alternatives, which range from the hopelessly naive and incompetent to the hard left who believe in property damage provided it targets race and class enemies, for the time being I'm betting on P4P to make a difference.

Removing typography from an interface just looks wrong and strangely old fashioned. This example is a recent site from UPS.
