The instructions say to choose a location at least 5(?) feet away from any obstructions, and now I know why. Being hemmed in between the house on one side and the Japanese Plum tree on the other made it very difficult to get the assembled roof panels up onto the frame.

If we had set it up in an open space, we could have tilted them out so they were aligned with the roof timbers and slid them into place much, much more easily.

On the other hand, moving the fully assembled pavilion back into the slot where I wanted it would have been a real bitch, since it weighs around 800 pounds.. (wink!)

I suppose I could have built it on casters, and rolled it back onto the patio, but then it would probably just roll away in the 40 mph winds we've had every day for the last week. No telling where it would be by now.. Oklahoma maybe?

My friend and I were out at a bar the other night and decided to start a life list. I read about it in the NY Times and apparently everyone's doing it. It appealed to me since I tend not to be a planner, instead going for the experiential approach. Somehow though, now that i've grown a wee bit older, and perhaps slightly wiser, writing things down suddenly seems like a good way to keep track of various thoughts and ideas. I even got pretty fired up realizing there's a few things I'd really like to accomplish pretty soon. Only problem is, I somehow misplaced the cocktail napkin I wrote it on. Thus, I will attempt to recreate it here with the limited faculties of my non-state specific sober mind...I figure, posting it here, could keep me honest or..at least I'd be able to find it again & perhaps edit and ad to it as I go.
