Chittorgarh in Rajasthan, India is the place where Meera Bai was born. She was a Rajput princess being well known as a poetess and saint. The princess had given up her lavish lifestyle and dedicated her life in the worship of Lord Krishna. The Meera temple constructed in 16th century is dedicated to her and is a very famous Hindu temple.

Chittorgarh Fort, one of the largest and strongest forts in India was the Capital of Mewar till 1567 when it was sieged by Akbar. Some of the most famous monuments inside the Fort include Kirthi Stambha or Tower of Fame, built by a Jain trader in 12th Century AD.
The Vijaya Stambha is an imposing victory monument located within Chittor Fort in Chittorgarh, Rajasthan, India. The tower was constructed by the Mewar king, Rana Kumbha, in 1448 to commemorate his victory over the combined armies of Malwa and Gujarat led by Mahmud Khilji.
It's architect of this imposing 37.19m monument was Sutradhar Jaita.
Climbing to the top floor was a challenge. Every alternate floor if through the center of the tower. So first floor is all fine with lights coming from zharokhas on the sides and then there's a dead end...u need to step in the central part of it to climb steep stairs plunged in complete darkness...with no support whatsoever...again come out in the next floor with steps illuminated by outside daylight....finally when u reach top....a sigh of relief...but the journey down is ...and in all this u are supposed to give way to others who are going the opposite way😁😁...quite an adventure
Vijay stambha or Victory tower,erected by Rana Kumbha in between 1440 and 1448 to commemorate his victory over the combined forces of the Kings of Malwa and Gujarat in 1440.The nine storeyed tower rises to a height of 122 feet and has a girth of 30 feet at the base.The elegant limestone structure is ornately carved and studded with splendid sculptures of hindu deities.
