#“Macro Mondays“ Misfit

A hot combination.

The little chilli pepper in combination with the matches is a game with fire. I wish you a good week, stay healthy and don't lose your sense of humour in all the muddle. All this can only be endured with a large portion of composure and a splash of humour.

Chilli pepper is the fruit of plants from the genus Capsicum which are members of the nightshade family, Solanaceae. Chili peppers are widely used in many cuisines as a spice to add heat to dishes. The substances that give chili peppers their intensity when ingested or applied topically are capsaicin and related compounds known as capsaicinoids. Chilli plants produce flowers and then chillies on each of its sidestems. Chillies can be pollinated by bees but failing that, they are also self-pollinating. 2233

Vegetables is the theme for Macro Mondays February 17th.

Today's theme for the Macro Mondays group is SHARP.

My offering today is a pizza cutter.

Thanks for visiting.

HMM....

Tiny flower of hot chilli pepper - 'Krishna Jolokia', from Assam, India.

Krishna = black and Jolokia = Pepper.

From these very small purple flowers come the tsmall fruits which ripen from almost black to fiery red, and eventually on to green - though we have been getting some purple ones too, and yes, they are indeed hot :^)

Tbh - this was a little more difficult to photograph than I expected, or at least to get one that I was happy with .....

For the Smile on Saturday group theme 'Three Droplets". Have a great weekend you wonderful folks out there. HSoS ;0)

Sometimes an explosion of fire can come in a tiny package. The humble chilli (or chili, depending on where you come from) is not so humble - so many different types, used in so many products!

Macro Mondays - "Condiment". HMM!

7 Days With Flickr - "Anything goes Mondays".

Macro Mondays theme Cold

Width of frame is around 5-6cm.

I got very cold engaging with this theme. It doesn't help that the weather has turned cold but not cold enough for frosty pictures. Roll on Spring!

I wish everyone a very happy and warm Macro Monday! 😊

Perhaps the best advice I could ever give to a nature photographer is to NOT use extension tubes for action shots. I seldom follow my own advice (just ask my kids!).

Fleur de saveurs.

.

"Sur la fadeur de la nourriture de base, viennent se poser les saveurs éclatantes des épices, comme autant de couleurs vives sur une page blanche."

Michel Tournier - Célébrations

"On the blandness of the staple food, come the bright flavors of spices, like so many vivid colors on a blank page."

Michel Tournier - Celebrations

Theme: Clothes Pegs

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

How do you photograph your home grown Chilli's and make them look 'mildly' interesting and creative.. you peg them to a washing line... 😂

I have just frozen enough Chilli's and Peppers to last me all winter for lots of recipes and dinners.

Hope its not a 'Chilli' Tuesday for you, think some knitwear will be coming out the cupboard today...

Chilli peppers slightly fiery and spicy!

The theme for this week is Flat Lay Photography - photos taken from directly above - usually objects laid out on a flat surface

Something hot on a cold day, straight from camera with a little levels correction (Explore #108)

Around the start of the first lockdown I did a series of digital photographs of ingredients I use in the kitchen; they made good prints. Trying this out using film as a diversion from my main photo activities.

Scotch Bonnet, also known as Boabs Bonnet, Scotty Bons, Bonney peppers or Caribbean red pepper is a variety of chilli pepper. Found mainly in the Caribbean islands, it is also in Guyana (where it is called Ball of Fire), the Maldives Islands and West Africa. It is named for its resemblance to a Tam o' Shanter hat.

Most Scotch Bonnets have a heat rating of 100,000–350,000 Scoville Units, however there are completely sweet varieties of Scotch Bonnet grown on some of the Caribbean islands, called Cachucha peppers. For comparison, most jalapeño peppers have a heat rating of 2,500 to 8,000 on the Scoville scale.

These peppers are used to flavour many different dishes and cuisines worldwide and are often used in hot sauces and condiments. The Scotch bonnet has a sweeter flavour and stouter shape, distinct from its habanero cousin with which it is often confused, and gives jerk dishes (pork/chicken) and other Caribbean dishes their unique flavour. Scotch bonnets are mostly used in West African, Grenadian, Trinidadian, Jamaican, Barbadian, Guyanese, Surinamese, Haitian and Caymanian cuisine and pepper sauces, though they often show up in other Caribbean recipes.

Fresh, ripe scotch bonnets change from green to colours ranging from yellow to scarlet red. Ripe peppers are prepared for cooking by those who cannot handle the sharp heat by cutting out the area around the seeds inside the fruit, which holds most of the heat. The seeds can be saved for cultivation or other culinary uses. (source Wikipedia)

I wish you all the very best and thank you for all your kind words, time, comments and faves. Very much appreciated.
