As part of the Tamkeen II project, a follow-up session on the implementation of Early Childhood Development (ECD) activities was conducted on 18 February 2026 at the Mhardeh center, Hama Governorate. The follow-up aimed to ensure that ECD activities are delivered in a safe and supportive environment for children, verify that facilitators apply holistic and integrated learning approaches, and provide necessary support to enhance the effectiveness and success of the activities. This activity contributes to promoting quality early childhood education and fostering cognitive, emotional, and social development for children in the Mhardeh community.
This activity is part of the Tamkeen project, which aims to (re) engage Conflict-affected and vulnerable children and young people (aged 3-24), especially vulnerable girls, IDPs, and children and young people with disabilities in safe and quality learning and development through non-formal, community-based settings, also to Strengthened capacity of local partners and communities. This activity is funded by the Swiss Development Cooperation (SDC) and implemented by AKF and Mhardeh Charitable Association.

The event was attended by relatives, family friends, and the children’s guardians. These laborers, primarily from tribal communities, work at the brickfield for about eight months a year, excluding the monsoon season. The children, aged between two and fifteen, are beneficiaries of a Non-Formal Education system that offers free learning opportunities to those without access to formal schooling. The couple’s celebration brought joy, solidarity, and attention to the importance of education and compassion in community life.
