I went out last night with every intention of waiting for the Milky Way to rise and planned for a proper facing lake to hopefully get a reflection.
I got there and took some test shots, looking for a nice composition with the trees. Once I had what I wanted I sat and waited while I watched for any Lyrid meteors.
I actually saw about 8 or 9 but never caught one on camera. They happen so fast its just luck really.
Come 1am I was cold, and was quickly loosing the desire to be there. It’s odd shooting alone all the time, especially in the pitch dark on the edge of the woods.
Every now and again you hear some branches snapping as something is passing by, or you hear what sound like a bowling ball being dropped into the water. I assume it’s a beaver or otter, maybe a fish breaking the surface.
Anyhow. These shots were rather uninteresting so I decided to try them as black and whites. I kind of like the look actually, so maybe I’ll head out again tonight and try again.

Set out for Bonnaroo in an RV mom & dad gave me. The gas gauge was not working.
The RV has two gas tanks, when one tank runs out, U can switch it over to the other one and keep on driving.
One tank is 18 gallons, the other is 22, it gets 18-miles/gal. it ran out at 225-miles.
When I switched it over to the other tank, it didn't work. When I tried starting it on the other tank it wouldn't start.
Had it towed to Las Cruces, New Mexico ($190). The shop was closed, the owner let me camp out for the night. In the morning they tested the fuel pumps -- think he said the rear one was not too good. The rear tank would work okay for awhile and would then stumble. They changed the fuel filter, which I thought was the problem and added some gas (total bill: $85) -- continued on my way thinking, "problem solved" but then it happened again.
I took the new fuel-filter off, broke a fingernail, got drenched in gas, emptied it of gas -- cleaning out any sediment inside.
Cop came by after I called 911, gave me some gas, I continued on using the rear tank. It sputtered and stumbled going up a hill, switched it to the front tank.
Whenever the truck sputtered like that my heart raced.
The AC went out, I was sweating, knew I'd arrive very late to the first day of the 4-day festival, smelled like gas, my hair windblown, back full of grease (from the pavement when I cleaned the gas-filter) and decided to come home.
It was a 1600-mile trip (one way), I went 1200-miles (total), ticket was $250, gas about $250, gave a friend $100 to add one can of R-12, Freon. $900 wasted, lol, guess I was not meant to go. This would-have-been my third time, second time in the RV.
I think I made a mistake chickening out . . . another fear was something happening on the freeway in a big city. I cried a lot! :(

Map link shows the turn-around point. The festival is about 100-miles SE of Nashville, TN.
