I would like to thank everyone who has taken the time to view, fave or comment on my photo. It is very much appreciated.

The snow was all melted, and the sun made a rare appearance for a few hours. This Black-capped Chickadee stopped by his favorite tree to give me a hasty "good bye" as I was leaving the marsh. He hopped in and hopped out, and I left.

But above all [the birds] ranked the chickadee because of its indomitable spirit.

The chickadee and nuthatch are more inspiring society than statesmen and philosophers, and we shall return to these last as to more vulgar companions.

[As so often the case, the remarkable Thoreau even more relevant and accurate today, and certainly on this subject...tho he might like Bernie....;-)]

Black-capped Chickadee Mésange à tête noire

Mud lake, Ottawa, Ontario

Black-capped Chickadees are usually pretty approachable, but not this guy. He stayed his distance. He was, however, one of the few birds seen at Lake St. Clair Metropark, Michigan in early March, when the marsh was still frozen.

An uncommon Chickadee found mostly in Canada, Alaska and northern parts of a few northern US states.

A bright spot in a fairly slow wildlife day in the field for me yesterday was finding a couple of these. Most of our winter owls have migrated out of southern MB and few raptors and other species have migrated in. Northern Harriers and Bald Eagles were the most prevalent of the raptor in-migrators where I was.

Have a great start of the week everyone! :)

I don't know if chickadees eat spruce buds but there are enough here on the tree for a good meal.

The Boreal Chickadee breeds in all Canadian Provinces and Territories as well as Alaska, Washington and the very north of some eastern US states. In central Alberta, they are not as common as Black-capped Chickadees, but in more northern latitudes, they begin to outnumber the Black-capped Chickadees.

This image shows the chocolate-brown cap they sport as well as the cinnamon colour of the flanks. Their call is much more wheezy than the familiar call of the Black-capped Chickadee.

I have been knowing this chickadee for almost 5 years we have a very nice friendship his name is "flaquillo" and he is so sweet and kind :)

Created with a couple of Wombo images and textured in Impresso Pro.

Prompt: Thanksgiving, heavily decorated wreath bird nest, two chickadees, misty forest

Style: The City

The chickadees in our yard should be giving thanks for all the food I give them everyday! We have both Black-Capped and Chestnut Backed varieties in abundance.

All of you who celebrate Thanksgiving, have a fun and safe week!

I was walking by the lake when this black capped chickadee landed in a nearby tree. It was enjoying the fruit of the tree, giving me time for a few shots.

I had a very successful shooting day today, found both kinds of kinglets, and was closer to the ruby crowned kinglets than ever before. But also, the black-capped chickadees, which are so common, were in very nice locations with soft background. I noted on the computer that this chickadee got a little treat on its tongue.

One of my favourite photos in the back catalogue. This was taken in the early 1990s before digital. Camera and film details escape me now. I do remember that it was at the Jack Pine Nature Trail where I spent many hours in my youth. The entire left side of the image is an out-of-focus pine trunk.

When you walk in the pine forests near my hometown of Ottawa, Canada, the black-capped chickadees (Poecile atricapillus) follow you around just on the off chance that you have a pocket full of seeds and will be willing to stand there while they alight and eat from your hand.

I learned that trick as a little gaffer and feel that this intimate contact with nature is one of the reasons that I am a biologist today.

Such sweet little birds, one of my favourites and better yet, they are here year-round.This chickadee was spotted at a local park.

Thank you for taking the time to view and comment on this image! Have a great day!

The Black-capped Chickadee rests breifly while feeding in the tangled undergrowth. These active and energetic ones never seem to sit for very long.

It was singing while having a drink of water.

One of the cutest little birds in the world.

Looks like the chickadee is posing but he is watching the chickadee nest.

The Black-capped Chickadee popped out along the edge of the trail for a brief view and dove back into the heavy cover.
