Indiana Harbor Belt SW1500 1509 was pounding across the former B&O main line at Calumet tower in 2013. The 1509 was built in 1966 and was still going strong in 2013.
The tower was soon closed and demolished and the 1509 is still working for its original owner.
Thanks for coming by. Hope you all enjoy the end of the week.
Here is a pretty church we pass all the time. So ornate. Nice for the holiday season too. But my cloning efforts were not well at all. C'est la vie!
Keep well.
IC 1038 leads CN Z148 through Brantford amid a bit of afternoon sun.
This one made it through on my lunch which was certainly to my enjoyment.
A Norfolk Southern GP15-1 was rolling one of Chicagoland's bottle trains along the Indiana Harbor Belt. Both the former Conrail GP15-1 and that classic NYC-style signal gantry are long gone.
A halo around the sun usually means rain or snow is on the way. This was taken last Saturday. Today, we are dealing with a winter storm warning in Chicagoland thru most of the day tomorrow.
Dakota Minnesota and Eastern SD40-2 6367 was passing CSX AC4400CW 305 with an ethanol empty in 2009.
The CSX hopper train was entering Bensenville yard while the ethanol train was roaring past on the way west. An ethanol load was receding in the distance as it headed for the BRC,

The Burns Harbor - Colehour local that shares the name of the title runs Sunday thru Thursday, though it only makes the entire distance to Colehour Yard in Hammond once or twice a week. Here is one such example, leaving Colehour with no loads picked up - only empties set for Cargill. It's a little before 2300 and the crew is departing east to head straight back to Burns Harbor, under the shadow of the more-than-massive parking garage of the Horseshoe Casino - Las Vegas of Chicagoland! GP60 7149 is the night's east facer. Interestingly enough, I always seem to run into this unit on the most random occasions, such as here.
Wisconsin Central train T050 was hitting the then-single track at Leithton on the way south on WC's Chicago Subdivision, now Canadian National's Waukesha Subdivision in 1996.
A pair of matched WC SD45s had the Fond du Lac to Elkhart NS run-through well in hand.
The year Feb 2011 snow storm dumped more then 20 inches of snow around Chicagoland .Were on the IC's Iowa division with CN Dash-8 and EJ&E SD-38 helping clear snow
Last Apr 18, I joined a meetup group for a photowalk at the Evanston Northwestern University grounds. The organizer presented us with a creative challenge (the second one this year). She gave us a list of words and our task is to compose images that best describes those words.
This is my interpretation of Chaotic.
When I saw these vines on the wall, I immediately knew that this will be my representation of chaotic. However, from the SOOC (see first image in first comment), the twisting and the entanglements of the vines weren't too evident enough for me. So I turned up the blacks and pulled down the highlights and shadows in the tone curve. Also added a hard vignette using lens correction instead of post-crop to present a more darker edge and give it that dreaded dark look. Looks even more chaotic viewed large on black.
It's raining hard in my neck of the forest so wasn't able to shoot anything green (much as I wanted to go out and shoot). This is the closest that I can find which have a tinge of green in it (more line light grayish green tone).
It's not exactly gorgeous... more like chaotic which exactly depicts the challenge word that I was trying to interpret. I myself would not pass this as green but I'm out of greens (dollars included! lol!) I will make it up next thursday.
Happy Gorgeous Green Thursday everyone!
BTW, I'm still working my way up your stream... it's a slow process but I'm really enjoying looking at your very inspiring photos... =)
The Chicagoland Learning & Talent Leaders give to their community by providing resources for long-term stay children in hospitals to learn while they heal.
Enjoy these photos from RightStart4Kids' fundraising party on May 18, 2010 Benefiting Children’s Memorial Hospital in University Club of Chicago Cathedral Hall, one of the finest dining rooms in Chicago. We were thrilled to complete our goal to donate 50 netbooks to Children's.

On the final stretch to Bensenville, CP 6080 heads the eastbound way freight from St Paul to Chicago around the curve at CP Norma on the UP Milwaukee Sub. I sure do miss seeing these on the daily in Chicagoland.
