Madagascar - Plateau Region - Antanafisaka

During a meeting of Antanafisaka's people involved in GdS projects.

GdS -Granello Di Senape- is a no-profit association that gave me the opportunity to visit Madagascar and its projects focused on development, wellness, education.

Precisely two years ago a very special journey took place on Facebook. The challenge was to uncover a pattern linked to the life of Princess Diana and the Nazi KG 200 (The tip of the drawn triangle meets the tower at circa 2/3rds of its height at 200 meters). I only knew who Diana was from a distance. She represented beauty, charm, eloquence and new hope over a dark and rigid institution. I offered support and encouragement to the Princess during a conversation with one of her staff at Buckingham Palace in 1991. I asked her to relay to the Princess that she should keep positive, look ahead and for what it was worth, "I'm a fan". The Princesses staff was really friendly and grateful for the call and promised to tell Diana. Times have since changed at the Palace and during my most recent conversation with a member of the Press dept I could sense that a dark morbid cloud of obnoxiousness and sourness had returned to the Palace.

The video is a quick reflection of some of the key impressions.....

I'm sure the editor has something profound to say about this month's parade of hot tail, but I was stoked to see an ad for the Chez Paul, made famous in the classic Blues Brothers movie. It's where Mr. Fabulous worked. "I WANT TO BUY YOUR WOMEN!"

Chris ordered the broiled bone marrow, and it came with four (!!) pieces! I'm not the biggest fan of bone marrow on account of the gelatinous texture, usually, but this was spreadable and warm, complemented by a healthy pinch of fleur de sel. Chris' main course was the steak au poivre, and Chez Paul is supposed to be one of the best places in the city for it.

660 North Rush Street, Chicago.

'Chez Paul', the snooty restaurant where horn player Mr Fabulous is maitre d’, closed down several years ago, but you can still see the exterior.

The first course of our last real meal in Paris, at Chez Paul, a busy but not-that-touristy place where we dined upon the Frenchiest-of-French country cuisine. The portions were huge, the service friendly and professional, and the food was sincerely one of the best meals I've had. These escargots were soft and tender, not a hint of rubberiness, and swimming in the most perfectly salted herbed butter you can imagine (I soaked up every drop with bread, don't worry). I also ordered the Steak Tartare, a savory occasional pleasure, and of course, we shared the crème brûlée vanille bourbon for dessert!

Achat de brioches (Paris)

French for "raw vegetable plate". It was simple, but fresh and tasty. Chez Paul got a bit crazier with the main dish.

ah les bouchons lyonnais! le canard après café : le liquide vert inconnu m'a attaqué l'intérieur de la joue!

Paris 2010

I did not eat here. I took this as a get well card for my friend Paul...He had knee replacement surgery on July 23, 2010... He is an excellent chef...

Most French restaurants don't seem to know what to do with vegetarians, so they just serve up a dish of plain vegetables and call that a meal. Chez Paul only had one vegetarian main course, but he actually put some thought into it: a cabbage roll stuffed with carrots and spices and, of course, butter. This is proof that a plate of vegetables can be more than just a plate of a vegetables!

Travelling with Jonas and Camilla, I found out, requires much eating. Which is an interest we share, so I wasn't complaining.

Chez Paul on Rue de Lappe is a recurring favorite.

April 2008. My favourite restaurant in Paris.
