Photographed at Chevy Chase, Montgomery County, Maryland. This red milkweed beetle may be a bit lost as it is climbing around in fennel, not milkweed. However, there are several milkweed plants nearby.

And when you're this small, that hurts.

Not only is he enjoying the fall colors, but this Red-bellied Woodpecker has found a little morsel to eat.

What happens when it's mid-fall and you go birding? You get squirrels.

I've seen rabbits eat a lot of things, but not a leaf like this. It was pretty cute watching him move it around as he chewed.

Yesterday was a bit of a disaster for a walk; when the most interesting thing you see the whole time is a squirrel there's a problem.
