Macro Monday

Theme : Snack

Size: Less than 3x3 inches

The subjects are celery and cherry tomato. The hardest bit is to balance the pieces together.

Natural light through the window and a LED torch held at 12 o'clock and quite a distance away. Background colours are from plastic bags and I added some soap bubble for added effects.

Many thanks for your visit, comments and faves...it is alway appreciated.

Darling,

If you ever doubt about my heart to you,

Don't be....

You don't need to ask me what to do,

Nor telling me what to think

Because before you ask, it's been done.

And darling, one thing that I want you to know, that;

"I will always put my best on the table".... ( ahem...)

- The First Cut Is The Deepest by Rod Stewart

www.youtube.com/watch?v=pr3zpqp3ypY

Lyrics:

I would have given you all of my heart

But there's someone who's torn it apart

And he's taking just all that I had

But if you want, I'll try to love again

Baby, I'll try to love again, but I know

The first cut is the deepest, baby, I know

The first cut is the deepest

But when it comes to being lucky, he's cursed

When it comes to lovin' me, he's worse

I still want you by my side

Just to help me dry the tears that I've cried

And I'm sure gonna give you a try

If you want, I'll try to love again, try

Baby, I'll try to love again, but I know, oh

The first cut is the deepest, baby, I know

The first cut is the deepest

But when it comes to being lucky, he's cursed

When it comes to lovin' me, he's worse

I still want you by my side

Just to help me dry the tears that I've cried

But I'm sure gonna give you a try

'Cause if you want, I'll try to love again

(Try to love again, try to love again)

Baby, I'll try to love again, but I know, oh

The first cut is the deepest, baby, I know

The first cut is the deepest

But when it comes to being lucky, he's cursed

When it comes to lovin' me, he's worse, oh oh

The first cut is the deepest, baby, I know

The first cut is the deepest

Try to love again

Tarator is a cold cucumber soup of Balkan cuisine and originally contains walnuts. However, since the Secretary is allergic to walnuts and also does not like them very much, he modified a classic recipe and prepared it without walnuts, but with grapes - it was tasty too.

- Is a Tomato a Fruit or a Vegetable?

The age-old question actually has an answer—it's both!

Tomatoes are fruits that are considered vegetables by nutritionists. Botanically, a fruit is a ripened flower ovary and contains seeds. Tomatoes, plums, zucchinis, and melons are all edible fruits, but things like maple “helicopters” and floating dandelion puffs are fruits too. For some reason, people got hung up on tomatoes, but the “fruit or vegetable” question could also work for any vegetable with seeds.

Now, nutritionally, the term “fruit” is used to describe sweet and fleshy botanical fruits, and “vegetable” is used to indicate a wide variety of plant parts that are not so high in fructose. In many cultures, vegetables tend to be served as part of the main dish or side, whereas sweet fruits are typically snacks or desserts. Thus, roots, tubers, stems, flower buds, leaves, and certain botanical fruits, including green beans, pumpkins, and of course tomatoes, are all considered vegetables by nutritionists.

There is no hard-and-fast rule that clearly designates a botanical fruit as a vegetable, but, given that tomatoes are generally not used in desserts and are closely related to other fruit-vegetables (e.g., eggplants and peppers), it is not too counterintuitive for tomatoes to be classified as vegetables.

So go ahead and call a tomato whatever you want—it's super tasty either way.

Why I love tomatoes:

Whether you view the tomato as a vegetable or a fruit – either way – they sure taste good and add that extra kick to a lot of popular dishes on a worldwide basis.

With a fascinating history, you'd never figure that the tomato is actually part of the nightshade family, where a few poisonous cousins exist. Interestingly, the lineage of the tomato is also connected to that of tobacco, eggplants, chili peppers, and the potato.

Overkill

For Macro Monday theme “danger” [8 Jul 19]

I thought long and hard about what to shoot for this week’s theme. Peter and I tossed around ideas like, nails, bullets, knives... none of which resonated with me (although I’ve since seen many amazing images of these objects here - the irony). Finally, Peter suggested a mousetrap, and now he had my attention. We had a Caprese salad with dinner last night and I envisioned creating a mini Caprese salad on a mousetrap, I was pretty excited about this idea, so off we went to Canadian Tire to buy an “old school” mousetrap (gross!), and there you have it.

On the mousetrap is a basil leaf, half a cherry tomato, and a piece of Brie cheese. I recognize that this is a departure from a traditional Caprese salad, but I wanted the Brie ‘edge’ to show. Of course, balancing it on the mousetrap - all while trying not to get “snapped” (lol) required a toothpick, cut to size for the image. All in all, it was lots of fun for us both to create the image.

I’ve called it seduction - later edited as dana marostega, suggested the title “overkill” - as I figured this would be a desirable and delicious treat for any mouse.

P.s. No mice were harmed during or after the creation of this image.

Happy Macro Monday!
