"Ma'am, step away from the Chenowth !"

The old Desert Patrol Vehicle has since been upgraded to the Light Strike Vehicle (Porsche diesel engine instead of the DPV's Volkswagen engine). I honestly can't tell the two apart. And I suspect that most people who post pictures of them can't either, since the pictures seem to be used interchangeably.

I've liked these things ever since I saw one in a Micro Machines set round about 1995.

I knew I wanted to give it a go at some point, but I also expected it to be a challenge. But I actually got it built from scratch within a few hours. I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out.

There is actually a seat for the second gunner next to the driver, but minifig arms being what they are, there isn't really room for both at once. Let's say they dropped off the gunner already.

Based upon the Chenowth Desert Patrol Vehicle (DPV) formerly used by the United States Military, this all-purpose, high-speed recon and attack vehicle can be fitted with Sector Seven's specially-developed weapons, ranging from cryo-freezing cannons (though this requires cryo-tanks to be installed in the rear compartment) to belt-fed automatic grenade launchers capable of firing armor-piercing sabot rounds.

Based on the attack buggy from the film Transformers.

"...Conventional can be so....boring."

It's entirely possible I was introduced to the Nomad through a trailer for Forza Horizon 3.

I can't think where else I'd have come across it.

I originally had no intention to build it, since I thought pipecars would be really hard. But after the Chenowth, I felt confident that I might be able to make the Nomad work. I built the whole thing in black, discovered that it didn't photograph very well, and then had to rebuild it in gray.

The hose pieces are from one of my childhood Technic sets. Turns out those are actually just about as old as I am.

This is the 40th vehicle in my 10-vehicle offroader series :)

A little preview of my new military themed diorama. Two small vehicles that I really enjoyed to build!

All photos in this set are pictures I've acquired through a lot of searching and researching for a model scratchbuild. I want to get these out to anyone who may be interested, and I take no credit for taking any of these pictures, nor building the models seen here.

This is a rare photo of Laura as Glinda. She was standby for Kristin Chenowth before going on to play Elle in Legally Blonde.
