Two Snow Goose postings this evening.
We came upon a great Snow Goose scene today. There were thousands on this water close to the road. The previous shot is a small fraction of the total flock on the water. We had several minutes to take shots of these and several close shots of more flying in overhead to join them.
At some point something spooked them and that caused the whole flock to rise in panic. I posted the above shot of that, but only a video from a wider angle would truly capture we saw and heard.
After circling around the water for about five minutes, they all returned.

Once in a Blue Goose.
The dark color of the blue morph Snow Goose is controlled by a single gene, with dark being partially dominant over white.(Cornell Lab of Ornithology)
I could not find any information regarding the percentage of this variant within the overall population. In my experience, I see just a few in flocks of hundreds.
