Inside the chemist shop in the 1900's town, containing all manner of weird and wonderful remedies!

A shot of part of the outside shop window in the comment below.

This is not the sharpest photo I’ve ever taken. But I’m amazed that it exists. Three years ago, I bought a 5x7 Press Graflex SLR. It’s a beast. It takes a less common type of film holder, and it’s taken me all this time to actually find some. So this morning, I finally got to shoot with this monster. It’s not in great shape. The tensioner is wonky and doesn’t display the correct number. The spring back isn’t as firmly attached as it should be. The aperture on the lens is messed up and only adjusts a little, probably between f/5.6 and 8, near as I can tell. But I got a photo out of it anyway (I got another one, but it’s more out of focus and has a light leak, so I’m not sharing that one). When I get some money, I am definitely going to have this camera serviced. It used to belong to a photographer who worked as a research chemist at Kodak, Grant Haist. I look forward to making it work again and putting it to good use. Shot on Portra 400 5x7 expired 11/2023.

Ceramic tiles panels on 58 High Street, Leicester. This is a shop premises dating to 1903. The architect was A. E. Sawday for T. E. Butler, Son and Co., chemists. The Sea Breeze advert is a bonus. The building is listed Grade II.

This large vessel that had been used in the fishing industry is undergoing "ship breaking", a process that reduces the vessel to scrap metal.

Since forms of "hot work" like cutting and grinding will be performed in potentially hazardous environments, a marine chemist is engaged to conduct safety tests to ensure worker safety.

The main picture was taken at Blists Hill. However, the chemist had to many reflections in his glasses, so I used the face of a guy I had taken a portrait of.

At Thompson Chemists in SoHo, you can listen to bluegrass from Sheriff and the Deputy every other Tuesday night. The band plays among rows of ointments and face creams, a performance known as the Thompson Street Medicine Show. It draws a local crowd. The show is just one of the unusual offerings at the shop, opened in 1994 by pharmacist Gary Alony.

Here is one more look at the students participating in this year's Chip Camp. Here, they are busy mixing chemicals for a reaction to coat the inside of a glass vial.

These three boys were eager to have their picture taken during the chemical deposition module of Chip Camp. They are posing and holding up their silver coated vials. One of them stated he wanted to be internet famous as a Chip Camper.

A Victorian tiled advertisement high on a building at the junction of High Street and Carts Lane. It’s worth looking upwards sometimes because the shop at ground level is just a boring modern clothing outlet.

This Chemist in Greenwich SE London is where I took my very first camera film to be developed back in around 1968/1969 and could not afford to pay to get the photos for a few weeks, each time I passed, the chemist would come out to ask me when I will be collecting them, I used to have to run past each time till I had enough money !

#283/365 It's been a while since I tried something vintage. Kept it color this time instead of going sepia or b&w.

A 2018 chemist-fresh pleasure-promising newly-opened blister pack box of 100mg Tramadol capsules set in early morning Scottish summer sunrise light..along with news I'd had £76K wired to my account.

Initially prescribed for a frozen shoulder and look beautiful here heh;, but then after an indescribably heavenly few days and nights..

... their consumption, even at the prescribed dose, became a mentally, physically and creatively-degrading drag on the system, required just to feel normal.

* I got off them in 3 or 4 days after nearly 2 years of daily use while the shoulder unfroze itself.

Will-power is greatly underestimated !

*NB not to be attempted with Benzos after long tem use - they definitely need to be tapered off.
