I was just trying to invent something different tonight, so "deconstructed bacon wrapped shrimp" over an edamame and mung bean fettuccine tossed in olive oil and parmesan, with a broiled lobster tail and Pomagranate seeds; paired with a glass of 2014 Columbia Valley Sharecroppers Syrah. The wine aside, this plate cost me less than ten dollars to prepare. #chefmark #gourmetonapaperplate #seafoodloverinyou

Mark grilled tonnes of food so we could use what we didn't eat in other meals, smoked veggies taste so good in a stirfry or pasta!

Today would have been Mimi's 55th Birthday. Sadly, she passed away last summer. In her honour, this morning, Mark cooked breakfast just like he used to when he and Mimi "slung hash" side by side in her restaurant.

tonight, it was too hot to cook....but we were tired of eating salads, after a week of almost nothing but. We didn't want to go out because of the heat...so we ordered in. It was delicious!

Mark always grills off enough stuff so that we will have LOTS leftover and he throws into a pasta dish the next day. the smokey flavour goes through it...yum!
...the dogs love the new deck! and they'd missed Mark. I had to keep them out of the back yard all day, which was not easy for them!
the first "harvest" from Mark's garden. We had them in our salad at lunch yesterday and they were delicious!!
Playing in the yard on a very frosty Family Day. Mark dug out some tunnels for Sam and Gracie. The snow was getting way too high for them to be able to move around in the yard. They are much happier now than they were last week!

a little neighbourhood diner we found (via a list on the Village Voice website). We ate breakfast here on our last morning.
Gourmet on a paper plate: oh my goodness, this was tasty! Pan seared swordfish, drizzled with salt, lemon juice, and pesto; topped with a simple basil-lemon butter (butter, lemon juice, minced garlic, coarse sea salt, minced basil); a side of very ripe sliced Seckel pear, blackberry, blueberry, pepinos, and lady finger pumpkin seed; paired with an absolutely incredible (after a long decanting) 2010 Chateau du Berneuilh Bordeaux Superieur; finished with a piece of 85% dark chocolate. #gourmetonapaperplate #gourmet #swordfish #chefmark

...Mark was ill for a few days over Christmas. Yesterday, we stopped off for a bowl of soup after his doctor's appointment. Fortunately, he's feeling better today and is back to work
...Sam watches over Mark. Poor Mark was in bed with a migraine and Sam stuck by him, on the end of the bed until Mark woke up.
Yummy breakfast this morning: black beans, rice, pine nuts, walnuts, chia, portabella mushrooms, and Lizamo tossed with a drizzle of Tunisian extra virgin olive oil and prosciutto; toasted pita and garlic hummus, berries, and (forgot to plate in the photo) cold smoked salmon. #chefmark #breakfast #whatsforbreakfast
Mark is installing an operating system and lots of other goodies on my parent's new computer (thank goodness we have lots of old monitors kicking around so he can just do it at the kitchen table)!
