DIY Kitchen Runner made from 3 IKEA SIGNE rugs

blogged 04.18.11

Today's picture is of the Daylesford Town Hall, but the reverse shot that I took for photo No. 009 in this project. The reason to revisit is that tonight will see the Shire"s honor the new Aussies amongst us with their Citizenships Certificates.

The night will also see the Shire Australia Day Citizens Awards and the Daylesford Rotary Club Awards presented to those lucky recipients for their outstanding service to the local community. .

The tradition of having Australia Day as a national holiday on 26 January is a recent one. Not until 1935 did all the Australian states and territories use that name to mark that date. Not until 1994 did they begin to celebrate Australia Day consistently as a public holiday on that date.

Aussie Aussie Aussie Oi! Oi! Oi!

This is the bathroom. This is the peoples forum.. What can you see? Well while the porcelain was invented in China, the black and white checkered floor pattern is something that you find in the US more than in other countries it seems to me. I like that pattern.. What I don't like about the US is how they now have advertisements in all the bathrooms, so you can never stop consuming... Even when you're in the WC now... It was not always like that. But it is now.. In this case the advertisement is to buy a red bull energy drink.. Something that you will probably need in a society with modern day wage slavery.. Not to much time to sleep.. Yes this is 2003, yes we have made great technical advances, and yes we are working longer ... So consume, go to the WC, think about consuming more, and then buy something to help you have more energy to consume more..

This morning I went to the St. Paul Children's Museum with my sister and my nephews. It was such a cool place. They had so many different rooms full of so many adventures for kids! This area we were in during the picture was a big pretend land, where each individual play room was set up to look like a miniature version of real life places (such as a grocery store, hospital, post office, city bus, restaurant kitchen). I would have LOVED this as a little kid...I was very much into playing "House" and other pretend games!

After the museum, I went back to campus, got packed up and headed out to visit Ruth. I was on the road for about 7 hours today. I've never driven that far by myself before, so I'm proud to say that I did it! It was awesome seeing Ruth tonight, even though I was exhausted from my trip.

this was such a cute part of the whole wedding. they look amazing together.

10.31.09 | Yelapa, Jalisco, Mexico | Just your everyday backwoods Mexican church. Full of faith and in need of physical repair to fend off decades of heat, rain and the jungle around. And then "Lou-Dog" (we named him since he took a liking to a member of our Yelapa going expedition) plopped himself down at the entry. Maybe he wanted to welcome us, or give us a tour, or just cool off his under carriage on the smooth stone floor. What ever his reasons, I appreciate the sentiment. | Photo By Jeffrey Rueppel

I took all the photos of the sky, balloon, ring, mermaid, statue, door and watch myself, then did a lot of photoshopping.

This is what American breakfast on the road looks like! The picture never changes - old fashioned fast food chains are fast, cheap, have good pancakes, free refills, and are always open. Convenience is everywhere! So we, tired travelers, had nice breakfast and were ready to continue our trip in the blizzard.
