After spending a frustrating amount of time last week chasing feathers in the wind with my macro lens, I though I'd choose something REALLY slow.
Like a snail.
Snails are slow, right?
Not the one I found. It seems I discovered a very curious snail who was more interested in sliming my fingers, house in tow, in search of...well, I never figured that out.
I sensed it had a journey to continue, so after a few pictures, I sent it on its way.

When we walked up the dyke Feathers, the Adult from my other posts was was feeding on a Duck in the tall grass. You could easily have walked by & not noticed an Eagle feeding so close to the trail until you saw the white head pop up & feathers flying everywhere. Not many photo opps with his head down in the grass but nice to see an Eagle eating so well. Suddenly Feathers stopped eating, lifted his head & began to call out in a fury. We barely had time to look who he was calling to when Junior here flew right over our heads coming in to steal Feathers' meal. He was flying in so low if I lifted my arm up I would have been close to touching him. It was such an exciting moment to witness this action right in front of us.
Junior won this round chasing Feathers off to a nearby log. Here he is camouflaged in the tall grass with the remains of the Duck which managed to switch talons again before there was nothing left.
Probably one of the most common fish on earth , mackerel are now pursuing their migration through the Firth of Clyde . This shiny fish is about to be intercepted though . A wallet full of feathers , weigh and tinsel , a handful of kayaks and we are off . The Clyde estuary feels good this morning , overcast and dry and a little breeze pushing across , we are paddling away close to the Cloch lighthouse . The fish are there waiting for us , they love chasing feathers .
Since it is the start of the season it's always interesting to witness what is left in the Clyde . The mackerel are there , thousand , many small one and some big one . The colley are there too , gurnard and dab .
Followed by the local seal we enjoy a good paddle , intercepting those mackerel as we go .
Roll on summer , this year is already looking promising with some tasty baits already sorted . Kayak on ..

After a long morning of sunbathing, catching "mice," and wrestling with his brother, Mr. Pickles takes a well-deserved nap, ensuring he will have enough energy for the evening's activities which include: chasing feathers, working at the computer, and receiving unending massages.
We got up off the beach so's not to get sand blasted and Dennis chased three small fluffy white feathers that flew past him in the wind...we do like a feather!
I didn't fully understand what our guide told us about these boys, but it's something like this....
When boys go through puberty, they have a circumcision ceremony and go through a year of dressing like this.
This particular group of boys seemed a bit aggressive and started chasing our land cruiser and throwing rocks at it. I retaliated by taking a photo (that's unfortunately out of focus).

All tuckered out from a day of playing with toys and chasing feathers they’re spoiled already, but I love them
Bobbi is a 12 year old bobtail cat. She was left outside and has no tail or ears left. Nevertheless, she is THE sweetest cat I have ever met. I was scared of cats until she climbed up onto my lap. She loves her new home. She is gaining some weight and turkey is her favorite flavor cat food. :) She loves to chase feathers and she rolls onto her belly a lot. Her favorite place in my house is nestled right behind the toilet because that's where she got used to my home. I am so glad Bobbi found us.

I know when it's dinner time, I know how to demand more cuddles and attention, I know how puzzle feeders work, I can do awesome tricks and back flips while chasing feather wands. I guess to sum it up ... I'm pretty darn purrfect. Oh and I love to talk, chirp and spend my time hanging out and snuggling my people and other kitties, when I'm not busy playing, of course. My brother T'Challa, well, he's another story. Haha! I mean he's wonderful, he's sweet, but he's a dork. He freezes up when scared, he's shy with strangers, and even though he thinks he's tough, he's actually a big baby. He LOVES to cuddle with our foster mom, he lays belly-up in her arms all the time, and even gets her to carry him around. I mean, I enjoy my fair share of hugs and being carried, but he's ridiculous. He just lays in her arms like a baby, eats his favorite treats and gets toted around all over the house by her (talk about spoiled). T'Challa and I both love other cats, and we enjoy playing tag and wrestling. We would both be extremely happy to live in a multi-cat home and have other friends to play with. THE SEEKERS

They seek the answers, they chase the light though they inhabit a shadow world of sorts.
They walk amongst us though few but the most receptive of mortal eyes can ever gaze upon their sullen form. Daily they enter the realms of the living, retracing footsteps and casting hollow expressions over reference points to lives lived and loved, angry at their betrayal by false prophets reduced from days of former glory to token pieces of jewellery hung around the necks of the living. Cursing their fortune, hating their luck, traipsing over ground that was so precious in the days of pulsing arteries and beating hearts, before the darkness came and the light of life made haste it's exit from those tearful eyes.
As you go about your daily business you will feel their presence as they brush past you, the merest of breeze, the strangest of sensations like de ja vu, an icy chill gripping the sinews of your flesh, atoms of a life that will not lay down without the answer to that eternal question. Why me? Gone too soon, taken before idle dreams and aspirations had been luxuriated in or achieved, collected by old Reaper himself when they least expected, lives flowing an ordered pathway, smiles upon lips and the love of those who mattered for the briefest of moments in such insignificant timespans. They will not go quietly, don't ask them to leave for acceptance of their demise is not an option for the few brave souls who summon up the inner courage to stand and fight, to ponder and question the very winds of fate herself.
Wandering this Earth lost and lonely, bitter with contempt for the years they so wasted in the pursuit of holy blessing, Sunday communions with families so steeped in tradition and beliefs once rock solid that now lay in tatters as an aura all around them. And what did their devotion and beliefs bring them but a lifetime of denial and self guilt, and a handful of shallow words of comfort well rehearsed by the priest who knew nothing of the peole lying prostrate in their wooden boxes. No God to save them now, no words of kindness and wisdom, just the loneliness and solitude of the eternal walk. To the locations in life that meant something to them, they loiter with intent and mournful expressions, the beauty of Mother natures offerings, the race tracks of carnage and speed, to the sandy shorelines where they played as small children, carefree and contented. To the places where those mortals breaths became so shallow as to falter and fade, at home, at work, within the seductive sheets of carnal desire, they watch and wait.
Perhaps they will find the answers that they seek so earnestly, for these are those who fought back against the end of days, these are the brave souls who cling to the beauty of this world in which they dwelt with happy hearts and gentle souls. And they wait, between the dimensions of this world and whatever lies beyond, clinging to their love for life, lamenting days in the arms of lovers, beneath the ocean blue skies and fluffy clouds, chasing feathers, watching sunsets. They know the truth, that there is not always a reason and a wherefore, that no divinity nor wisdom play a part in the death of man, no rhyme or reason from a higher power. Now all they possess are the memories and the bitterness, and the sadness of what might have been if they had been given a chance. These are the shadow dwellers, and they walk the earth along with us.

I'm so happy to say Samson (we shortened his name) is doing fabulously! As a South African friend of mine says: he landed with his bum in the butter. He has everything a cat could want, but Samson has given us so much more in return. He is a true joy and we live him to pieces!
Since day one, Samson's claimed his domain! Fearless and playful... and the coolest dude in town. He LOVES chasing feathers, so every toy looks like a bird. He did surprise us by catching a field mouse the other day. Go kitteh!
He's part raccoon. We've invested in covered trashcans, and cannot leave any food out anywhere without a motion detector deterrent lol. My husband loves to tell the story about a freshly delivered pizza face down on the kitchen floor and Samson in the middle of it looking up as if to say "hey, I saved you a piece. You're welcome!" we laughed so hard! We had been used to a fat 18-year-old old cat who just wanted to sleep on your lap, so we learned real fast we needed to adjust our ways for a young spry adventurer like Samson
