Located at the entrance to the village of Fuissé (coming from Chaintré), the fountain du Romanin has been highlighted since 1722 by a pretty washhouse which will be rebuilt in 1848.
Sanctified, the source has an impressive flow especially in spring and even in great drought would not dry up. Its water comes from a Jurassic circus located behind the village of Fuissé.
According to local tradition, a Roman lord, named Fussiacus, would have settled nearby, giving at the same time his name to the village.

Le charme paisible d'une source romaine
Située à l’entrée du village de Fuissé (en venant de Chaintré), la fontaine du Romanin est mise en valeur depuis 1722 par un joli lavoir qui sera reconstruit en 1848.
Sacralisée, la source a un débit impressionnant notamment au printemps et même par grande sècheresse ne se tarirait pas. Son eau provient d’un cirque jurassique situé derrière le village de Fuissé.
Selon la tradition locale, un seigneur romain, nommé Fussiacus, se serait établi à proximité, donnant par la même occasion son nom au village.

I don’t know about you, but hmmm, every season has its charms? Each their colours… not that Spring doesn’t have orange or Summer doesn’t have reds, I think it much lies in the ‘combination’ of colours? And this here is pure Autumn! An orange onion Pumpkin, some Strawberry Corn (mostly decorative Zea mays 'Strawberry'. Popping Corn), some cobnuts (fresh Hazelnuts) and a few Physalis… et voila, Autumn in the studio. Have a lovely w-e.

One of a very icy and frozen morning when I back inside then the meadow was so frozen that every step made a loud crunch under my shoes. The sun slowly broke through the thick misty wall and conjured a very moody atmosphere.

Captured during a rainy evening in Astoria, Oregon, this photo highlights the moody glow of the historic Liberty Theater. Opened in 1925 as a vaudeville and movie palace, the theater’s opulent Italian Renaissance-style architecture was a beacon of entertainment in this coastal town. Over the years, it has weathered floods and economic changes, yet stands proudly as a restored cultural icon. The rain-soaked streets and glistening reflections in this image evoke the enduring charm and resilience of this cherished landmark.
Wie ihr seht, bin ich in meinem Archiv weiter gereist...
Im Oktober vor - nun ist es schon sechs Jahre her - besuchte ich gemeinsam mit meiner Freundin Hilde die Hauptstadt Lissabon und einige weitere schöne Spots in der näheren Umgebung.
Auch wenn diese Aufnahme nichts an sich hat, was architektonisch würdig gewesen wäre, es zu fotografieren... sie ist so typisch für die Alfama - den ältesten Stadtteil der Metropole am Tejo.
Das Viertel war früher einmal das Herz von Lissabon. Im Mittelalter verlor es an Bedeutung und galt als Ort der armen Fischer und Hafenarbeiter.
In so mancher Gasse ist der ursprüngliche Charme hängen geblieben und hat sich mit dem modernen Leben vermengt. Mittlerweile ist Alfama wieder die Seele von Lissabon. Nirgendwo in der Stadt ist die Dichte an Sehenswürdigkeiten so hoch wie hier.
Und nirgendwo in der Stadt kommt man enger mit der Lebensweise der einfachen Menschen in Kontakt.
Dort, wo die Wäscheleine über der Straße hängt, wo man ausweichen muss, weil die Tram sonst nicht durchkommt...
dort, wo es auch ein bisschen schmuddelig ist und der Tourist sich genau überlegen sollte, wohin er seine Geldbörse steckt...
dort ist Lissabon am authentischsten.
