Taken from inside the courtyard. This has been the town hall of La Rochelle since 1298. It is the oldest town hall still in use and was classified as a historical monument in December 1861. The main building is in the Renaissance style with the enclosure wall in the Flamboyant Gothic. There are other styles for the South Pavillion and the grand staircase. The architect for the main building was Favreau. Heavy restoration took place towards the end of the 19 Century. The main entrance is off camera to the right. (Credit to Wikipedia)
