You'll never do a whole lot unless you're brave enough to try.
Wise words from Ms. Dolly Parton herself!!
Curious how they got such an intricate drawing on the chalkboard? More details are on my site....
While Pete was here, we also installed my folding wall mounted table. Earlier this week, I picked this up from a lovely miss who I found through Craigslist. Cost? $15!
I painted the top with left over chalkboard paint because I didn't want it to interfere with my lovely black wall.
Definitely need to get scotchguard for those white chairs. They are going to be chalk dust colored in a couple days if I don't!
Frames featuring some of my favorite things: luzia pimpinella sugar skull and sticker, venus ttv glitter print, somanyideas photo card, and two of Lost Star's "Wreck This Journal" pages, as well as a few of my own WTJ pages.
Oops, I almost forgot, my skulls lights from PaperNest :)
Since my MIL moved with us after a stroke, we moved into the "school" room to give her our bedroom with the attached bathroom. So the other day I decided to put all those quotes I have pinned on Pinterest to use on our chalkboard wall! This Eiffel Tower looks less like an upside down ice cream cone that I posted yesterday for PL365
If I've tagged you, it's because you need to suffer too. Write ten things about yourself, put it with a self-portrait and interpret that as loosely as you care to.
I've been tagged to say 10 things about myself. I feel since I had to go through this, I will tag 10 more people that have to go through this as well. My hatred of self-portraits has nothing to do with the art itself, but should be explained in my 10 things. And I'll probably edit photo and comments in the morning...yawn!!
1. Pookie - That's my nickname for my husband. We've been married 6 years....it took me a minute to think how many years it has been because I stink at dates.
2. Cheese - I love cheese. You will never find me sitting down with a pint of ice cream. Most likely, you will find me hiding somewhere eating a block of cheese. Possibly accompanied with olives and garlic.
3. Fire - I have an irrational fear of the house spontaneously catching on fire. I check the house 3 times (at least) before I leave. Mostly because of the animals, but partially because if I have to spend another year going through remodeling, my head will explode.
4. Scary - I find horror movies totally relaxing and fun. I usually go into these movies thinking, "Well, at least I'm not THAT girl." And I continually judge her every decision knowing that I would do SO much better in that situation.
5. Crowds - Poop, I lined up my writing incorrectly. I don't function in crowds. There's too much to see, too much to hear, I could spend an hour in a crowd and have no idea what just happened. "What? My favorite band played? No way, totally missed it." This fascination with things around me makes me a pretty dangerous driver....ooh! Shiny! Puppy! Telephone pole!!
6. Coffee - Nothing, and I mean nothing gets done before I consume my intake of coffee in the morning. The coffee maker is by my bed and I sort of stumble to the bathroom where I conveniently keep my coffee cup for the one cup coffee maker. I then go back to bed and doze off again until the coffee is ready. I have created an art of staying in bed.
7. Martini Time - I'm a pretty flexible feminist. Being extremely liberal, I'm a staunch supporter of women's rights. However, as a woman, I think it would be awesome to choose to stay home by myself, clean, do my own thing (photos, reading, ranting online, etc.), cook (which I enjoy) and then have a couple of martinis ready for my husband when he gets home from other productive things that people are willing to pay him for doing. It's unfortunate that the things I enjoy doing aren't usually paid.
8. Camera - I like to be behind it. Not in front of it. I have some rather unfounded points of self-consciousness. Not sure when this happened or why, but it did. So over the past 6 year or so, you will see very few photos of me. I see a camera *anywhere* and I manage to hide. I only trust myself as a photographer (unless I were to pay someone better than me, but why would I do that?). I also can photoshop out unfortunate things like the huge zit I was sporting all through our Jamaica trip.
9. Animals - Oops, I meant to do these in a row. We have three cats and one dog. The dog is mine and it makes my husband very jealous. The cats are funny especially when they chase imaginary things. But all the cats worship the dog, and he likes to cuddle with them....and hump one. Scotch - dog, then Soda - cat were with me before the marriage. (I didn't name Soda or really adopt her, but I'm glad she's still with me.) Then Duke - cat and Beaker - cat. Named for various reasons, but this is getting long and feeling really self-involved.
10. Radio - I listen to a LOT of talk radio. I love Lynn Cullen. I may not wake up before 10 am if it weren't for her radio show. I miss Thom Hartmann like crazy. I listen to a little Stephanie Miller, and then I'm stuck with blow-hard "I worked hard (and lucked out and had amazing opportunities and wasn't dragged down by things like being brown or female), so you should too!" assholes. Gets my blood going. So I'm usually screaming at my radio in the car or while cooking.
I made these tees for the kids yesterday. . .the ideas are not my own - they were inspired by ones I saw on etsy. Used the Silhouette to cut the shapes! I love how they turned out. I made the rosette using ribbon, a hot glue gun and adhered it to a jewelry pin, so it can come off for the wash.
kissy lips and mustache props are silhouette shapes too. :-)

Had an amazing house warming party last night in which everyone got to add a little somethin' somethin' to my wall.... i love it! last night was the best night i've had in a while, so many people showed up to break in the new place, lots o' drinking and beer pong took place. FUN!!! :D
Static. Watched too much Fox News. I was hoping to see the total mental breakdown when healthcare that would cover millions of Americans passes, but they took too long. My head was about to explode with the bias and just flat out false coverage they offered. I still want to hold out for their heads to explode, but I had a photo to do and my husband wants to watch basketball.
But this is the debut of the chalkboard wall. You need to cover it with chalk first and then erase it before getting into drawing, so we did that yesterday. It makes a fun backdrop, so I might not erase until I can utilize the backdrop better.
Three tables found on Craigslist, a chalkboard wall with art from a very talented friend, a Caffeination Station.
It's amazing that our little guy is now big enough to actually be drawing on the chalkboard wall! Mostly just straight lines for now.
YAY! I painted a chalk board in my kitchen. Its still curing so I couldn't write something on it for the picture... but don't worry, soon!
I am thinking that I will put a very small table with stools next to the bedroom door.
I am also enjoying how much the colors of my apartment remind me of a Parisian cafe.

A Gallery of Children's Artwork which I created in my kitchen. It's a simple and flexible way of displaying artwork or even photographs.

I needed to revise fetal positions.
I needed to take my daily SP.
So I combined both of these items on my to-do list, and then promptly decided three photos on one themed deserve a new photo set - please see "Learning by Chalk".
refuge des Fondus, 17 rue des 3 Frères 01 42 55 22 65
The best thing about Refuge des Fondus is its originality. A self-proclaimed refuge from one of the most touristy areas in Paris, this restaurant serves its customers one of two selections—meat or cheese fondue—and wine in baby bottles at two long communal tables. The quality of the wine isn't great—perhaps because it's served in a baby bottle. Happy customers have scribbled their gratitude all over the restaurant's chalkboard walls. The help is convivial, as are (hopefully) your tablemates. You'll either leave shaking your head in amazement or, if you're more traditionally inclined, in disgust. But, in any case, you'll leave shaking your head, and that's saying something for a restaurant in the heart of a tourist machine. Does not take credit cards. Serves alcohol.

For We're Here - It's a Job.
My job right now? Being a student midwife! And whilst I may not be loving every second (! guys, it has been super difficult at times, and I haven't even gotten through 1/3 of the course yet!), my journey to midwifery is proving to be an amazing and wonderful one that I'm overjoyed and grateful that I'm lucky enough to be on.
Whoop!

Taken for a friend, excuse the mess. Need to clean up the line with proper tape, but I've been laazzzzy. I also want to find something awesome to use as a chalk holder.

There was that girl I used to know
She'd tease me about my name
Fan the embers long enough
I sometimes catch her flame
The soothing voice of distance tells me
That was just a fling
Other music fills my ears
But I still hear her sing :
She sings :
Paddy Joe, say Paddy Joe
Don't you remember me ?
How long ago one gorgeous night
We let the stars go
Paddy Joe, say Paddy Joe
Don't you remember me ?
How long ago one gorgeous night
We let the stars go free....

As usual...
* 27th of February 2015 to 26th of February 2016.
* No missed days.
* Jack and I bought our first flat together (!!!) and are super happy nesting in it together right now. He's perfect and my hero, so that's awesome on a thousand levels or so...
* I'm working sporadic shifts for the same company as I did last year, but I'm now studying to become a midwife (!!!) which is amazing and difficult and wonderful and I mostly don't shut up about it, so it might be best not to get me started..?
Big thanks as usual to everyone who has starred in, or helped with photographs, and favourited/commented/looked at my face for such a ridiculously long time. Whoop!
... Year 10 doesn't seem like such a long shot anymore. Ha.
