I usually shoot with the mechanical shutter, but I wanted to see if the electronic shutter would give me higher frame rates. For the A7IV, the electronic shutter had the same frame rate as the mechanical shutter. I knew the electronic shutter would produce rolling shutter effects and was curious about how they would look with hummingbirds. The electronic shutter isn't suitable for hummingbird shots unless they're perched and motionless. I was shooting in lossless compressed RAW and would have to shoot in compressed RAW for the highest frame rate on the A7IV. I'll try that next time to see if there are problems with those files. I was running into a full buffer fairly quickly anyway, so it might be better to use a slower frame rate. The Sony CFexpress cards probably clear the buffer faster, but I refuse to pay for those cards.
Out before dawn this morning with a vague hope of mist in the valleys. Wasn't to be and it's a blinkin' good job as I'd forgotten a memory card in the camera....again!! So I have bit the bullet and purchased another card for the 2nd slot. It's an XQD/CFExpress slot. Had to take out a small mortgage!!! How on earth is something so small so expensive!
It's Sunday anyway and it is a happy slider one. Monsal Dale Weir from a few weeks ago.

A return trip to the wedge produced some fun shots. When I got home and started to look, the Nik filters looked so good with these!
