Uno de los pocos restaurantes situados frente a la playa que estaba abierto en el mes de diciembre y como el día acompañaba con buen tiempo se estaba muy bien tomando una cerveza.
One of the few restaurants located in front of the beach that was open in the month of December and as the day was good in good weather it was very good having a beer.

Todo hay que decir que no habíamos visto ni un bar con una terraza enorme y lleno de gente. Nos sentamos en la terraza a tomar unas cervezas bien frías. 2 cosas: la primera es que la cerveza no estaba nada fría y lo segundo el escandaloso precio que pagamos. No lo digo por verguenza. Sólo que en Barcelona hubiera podido beber 7 o 8 cervezas frías.

We sat on the terrace to have some very cold beers. 2 things: the first is that the beer was not cold at all and the second the outrageous price we paid. I'm not saying it out of shame. Detall decoratiu de la teulada d'un bar a Reykjavík amb aquest vaixell víking que ens recorda on ens trobem. Tot s'ha de dir que no havíem vist ni un bar amb una terrassa enorme i ple de gent. Ens vam asseure a la terrassa a prendre unes cerveses ben fredes. 2 coses: la primera és que la cervesa no estava gens freda i el segon l'escandalós preu que paguem. No ho dic per vergonya. Només que a Barcelona hi hagués pogut beure a 7 o 8 cerveses fredes.

Que puedo decir de esta fotografia simplemente "Casa Artemio",, un pequeño restaurante que hay en esta playa, y en cuya terraza los dias laborables de primavera y otoño, puesto que estoy jubilado, disfruto de una cerveza tomando el sol y sobre todo tranquilidad, yo le llamo calidad de vida.
Was kann ich zu diesem Bild sagen, einfach "Casa Artemio", ein kleines Restaurant an diesem Strand, und auf seiner Terrasse an Frühling und Herbst Arbeitstage, da ich im Ruhestand bin, genieße ich ein Bier Sonnenbaden und vor allem Ruhe Ich nenne es Lebensqualität.

Just al sud del Pont de la Torre, a Londres, hi ha aquests edificis industrials, ara reconvertit en domicilis de luxe.
Apart del Butler's Wharf en lletres ben grosses, el que més hi destaca és l'edifici amb xemeneia integrada: es tracta de l'antiga cervesera Anchor, també conegude amb la marca Anchor i també Courage. S'hi fabricà cervesa fins el 1981!

These old industrial buildings just south of Tower Bridge, now converted into ultra-luxe apartments, once where a brewery (not the one with the large Butler's Wharf sign, but the other). This was, till 1981, Anchor Brewhouse, and beer was brewed here for the Anchor and Courage brands.
Arribats al Hotel du Cirque, al cercle de Gavarnia, des d'on pots disfrutar de les impressionants vistes del amfiteatre natural.
Amb dos salvetats: les consumicions com us podeu imaginar son cares (però jo em vaig fotre una cervesa tu, que bé s'ho valia), i per la disposició de la vall, gran part del dia el cercle està a contrallum. Al vespre deu ser molt millor espectacle, suposo.

The renowned Cirque de Gavarnie, a natural theatre of huge proportions in the center of the Pyrenees. There's a restaurant just at the other side of the picture, so you can relax in a table with a fresh beer while contemplating the landscape. After all, there's a couple of hours walking to get there. Nothing for most mountaineers, but I'm not one.

As the sun began to set on another fun day at our resort in Ixtapa, and while the rest of the family chillaxed before supper, I went for a wander with my camera around the near-deserted gardens at the back of villas. Feeling quite relaxed myself (helped by a few cervesas earlier on) I was therefore quite shocked when the dead leaves by the pathway I was walking along exploded a few feet away from me, but my shock quickly turned to delight when the cause of the 'explosion' - this Pauraque, a nocturnal nightjar that rests on the ground during the day and which I had inadvertently gotten too close to - fluttered back down to earth and settled about 15 feet away and almost immediately blended back in completely with its environment! This was a 'lifer' for me and one of those great moments when something totally cool happens completely unexpectedly :).

Ferdinand Effinger, Sr., a German immigrant, founded the family brewing business in Baraboo, Sauk County, Wisconsin in 1885. One of about 300 small breweries in Wisconsin when founded in the late nineteenth century, the Effinger Brewing Company was one of only 19 small breweries in the state in 1966, when the firm ceased brewing due to declining sales.
The original brewery complex, erected in 1885, housed Effinger's family and a saloon in addition to beer-making facilities. Eleven years later, Effinger was one of the earliest brewers in the state to begin producing bottled beer.
In 1911 Effinger reorganized the firm as a corporation owned by family members. In 1913-1914 the brewery was remodeled and expanded, providing space for new cellars, keg washrooms, and a mechanical refrigeration system.
With the advent of Prohibition in 1920, the company began producing root beer and near-beer. In 1921 the firm successfully converted to ice cream making and sales. Ten years later, the firm sold its ice cream business to the Borden Company and began reconverting the plant for beer production, which began in 1933. The firm continued its expansion program through 1948 when a new brewery building was completed and new bottling equipment was installed.
Throughout its 81-year existence, the Effinger Brewing Company remained a family-owned and managed business. The sons and grandsons of the founder served as corporate officers and as managers of the brewery. After the death of the founder in 1945, Ferdinand Effinger, Jr., became the firm's president and brewmaster, positions he occupied until the firm went out of business. Frederick J. Effinger, a grandson of the founder, served as secretary-treasurer and director (plant manager) from 1945 to 1966.
