I've never wanted special recognition. Even in high school, I declined a nomination to National Honor Society.
But, the volunteer dinner, held at the zoo on Friday night, was different. A banquet hall filled with people who have made contributions, mostly quietly and behind the scenes, is about community, not self-promotion. Community is something I value.
The volunteer coordinator made this certificate on her computer. It says, "Camera Connoisseur." A token, reminding me that community is happening. I can get into that.

I know, decluttering or neatening can be and often is overwhelming. Especially during this COVID-19 pandemic. My Aide, Heather, insists I make three piles, the third pile being
'3. Not Sure'
Here is my shortened process:
1. Discard Now!
2. Must keep and I know where to put it (30 second limit to think of a place or it goes to the Discard Now pile.)
Much to my surprise, I have discovered that once an item is discarded, I never regret or miss it. And it feels so good to have a completely decluttered area‼️🌹

1917 Lithograph certificate by H.A. Thomas & Wylie (#51212) certifying Guilford's Lucy F. Chittenden as a "...member of the American Flag House and Betsey Ross Memorial Association and a subscriber to the Endowment Fund for the preservation of the Historic House in which the First Flag of the United States of America was made and for the erection of a National Memorial in honor of Betsey Ross. The names of all the Subscribers are placed on the Roll of Hono and preserved in the Archives of the Association."
The document is finely printed in formal B&W script with a fine color image (Chas. H. Weisgerber's painting "Birth of Our Nation's Flag,") of Betsey displaying the flag to Washington, George Ross & Robert Morris. There is a red seal of the organization and printed signatures of the organization's President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer. To raise funds to purchase Ross's house (at 239 or 241 Arch St. in Philadelphia), the organization sold these ten-cent subscriptions to the American Flag House and Memorial Association.
