This is a small ceramic dish with bird shapes cut into it. Looking beyond the holes through and above the rim is a crumpled piece of baking foil. I selectively increased the saturation and reduced the shadows in the foil.
I have been trying for weeks to get a pic of a real squirrel on this stump where my ceramic squirrel sits. FINALLY! It helps that a bird feeder loaded with sunflower seeds is just a few feet away. Guess this guy was checking out the competition for the food.

Here is my cute little birdy friend. It has been very patient during the whole photoshoot. Never complained or begged for seeds! It's about 2.5'' tall and is made of a turquoise glazed ceramic.

It has begun there is no denying. Just noticed how the lines on the $1 tea cup from the second hand shop and the lines on the candle holder kind of matched. They caught my eye anyway.
The candle holder was made with a slab of Whitestone clay and painted with red underglaze before a clear overglaze. I love how vivid the red is once the overglaze is fired on.

For Macro Mondays theme "Ceramic", a Japanese sake flask & cups, known as tokkuri and ochoko. To say 'cheers!' say 'kanpai!', which means 'empty cup'. HMM!
There is a historic graveyard attached to the Sacred Heart Church at Karoola. As I usually do when arriving at such places, I go for a stroll and look at the monuments. There were some touching and certainly historic ones to be seen.
But then I laid eyes on that first amazing floral wreath (top left- the light was just perfect), and then there was another, and another! Everyone different from the other. They were all made from fine ceramic perfectly glazed and never losing their shine or beauty.
It was obvious what I needed to do here. So I photographed them all in this small graveyard and decided then I would make a slideshow featuring them to the music of "Where Have All the Flowers Gone?" (you'll see that next).
In the meantime, enlarge this collage and look at each one carefully. Cynics might call them kitsch (but what would cynics know about anything?). They represent beauty and the embodiment of love that lasts long after someone has left this mortal coil. Love is the only thing that can truly traverse all limits of space and time.
