Work of Johann Michael Rottmayr called "Apotheosis of the Althan Family", 1695. In the center the genius of the family impersonated by a divine youth, Apollo, on a triumphal chariot and surrounded by four angels with Althan standards, on the circumference the heroes of Greek mythology.
The following story about the ceiling is from an information plaque. "Almohade coffering built in 1170 that is made of pine & oak wood, with inlays which make typical arabesques. At the bottom are encrusted the shields of Arab families who lived on the property as well as the Kingdom of Aragon & Cataluña overlapped"
Jardines de Alfabia (Gardens of Alfabia) near Bunyola. The gardens are worth a look & can be found on the right hand side just before the Soller Tunnel 20/04/15
I bought a sheet of 4' x 4' "cull" drywall from HD.
(that's what they salvaged from sheets that are dropped by people)
for $4
I cut them up and fit it in the ceiling.
Sounds easy.. but my shoulders are dead after numerous times of lifting, fitting, and repeat.
Looking up from the ground floor of the Michigan State Capitol. The dome ceiling is absolutely gorgeous.
