In the Medieval Ages - the Master paint the story for those who do not know how to read.
At Hampton Court Palace..It was originally built for Cardinal Wolsey, a favourite of King Henry VIII, circa 1514; in 1529, as Wolsey fell from favour, the palace was passed to the King, who enlarged it.

We bought this ceiling fan for our purple room (the main guest bedroom, soon to be a nursery) and were totally unhappy with it. It didn't blow enough air, and the light was exceedingly dim. Then it stopped working. It wasn't cheap, either.
St Mary, Freeland, is a High Victorian Gothic Revival church 'with its fittings perfectly preserved' (Pevsner), built in 1869-71. Wall paintings and glass are by Clayton & Bell.
Looking up again... on the eve of the Ascension. This is the barrel vaulted ceiling of the Chapter House of San Esteban, the Dominican priory in Salamanca, Spain. It was built in 1637 by Juan Moreno.
