My original Canon F-1 from 1978 is on the upper left (with the motor drive)—the Canon O.D. F-1 is my most recent acquisition. My earliest F-1 with an E.P. Mark from 1971 is not shown.

New to me Nikon. From late 1967. Everything works (meter too) so it'll be my occasional walk-about camera.
The lens is crystal clear and the camera has just the right amount of "patina" to make it look even more classic.

A pair of classic Nikons ready for their first adventures with me.
On the left is a Nikon F Photomic-T with a Nikkor-S Auto 50mm f1.4 lens with an age-appropriate cap. The camera body is from 1967 and the finder is from 1965. A more appropriate finder for this body would have been the TN. The lens is from 1968. On the right is a Nikon F2A Photomic with the DP-11 finder (that's what makes it an "A"). The F2 body is a late 1972 to early 1973 model and the finder is from at least 1977. The lens is a Nikkor 50mm f2 from 1978. The strap is NOS that I just happen to like the color scheme on it. The brown half-case on the Photomic-T is a mid-sixties case.
Both meters have been checked and they are accurate - a film test will tell more but on older metered cameras such as these, I shoot color negative film with a wide exposure latitude (Fujifilm 200 and 400).
There you have my entire Nikon collection (almost). I've just added the last piece, a gorgeous early F from 1964 which I'll soon show off. LOL

'OD' is for olive drab. It's a limited edition F-1 made by Canon in early 1978. I recently added the strap from an Etsy seller in the UK. I like the two together.
Mamiyaflex C2 and Mamiya 23 Standard
Mamiya's big boys!
I have the 6x9 back on the 23. The standard lens is the Mamiya-Sekor f3.5 90mm with a Sekosha-S shutter.
The 23 is an affordable option for 6x9 format, and of course, the Mamiyaflex C2 is one of the best early TLRs.
As pictured, the C2 weighs 1,596 grams, and the Standard weighs 1,999 grams without film.
I enjoy the 6x9 format and regret selling my Fujica GW-690.
The Standard's date code is 'FD', which indicates that it was made in April 1966.

My 1959ish Asahi Pentax H2 with a fabulous Asahi Auto-Takumar f3.5 35mm lens and all of the period correct bits.
I'm a big fan of wide-angle lenses on 35mm cameras, even though a 35 is on the upper end of the focal length scale. Those few extra millimeters can make all the difference in group shots or when working in tight spaces in our historic district.

This camera is actually quite famous - back in its day it was considered a groundbreaker in the 35mm SLR autofocus "world". This one has led a very gentle life - I've fully tested it with film and the thing that impressed me the most was how quickly the autofocus locked on to my subjects. The lens is a Minolta AF Zoom 35-70mm f4 and is sharp as a tack!
The camera, lens, and 4 (AAA) batteries weigh in at 847 grams (1 lb 14 oz)!
This outstanding camera and lens set is available for purchase at www.ccstudio2380.com

Can you say the Canon is a bit more "compact"?
Both camera systems are products of the 1970s and the design esthetic is classic and clean for the era.
Side-by-side the differences are obvious. The CdS meter is built-in on the Canon whereas the Nikon's light meter is in the head. The Nikon's metered prism (DP-11) is much larger and taller than the eye-level prism on the Canon (which was the standard prism since its introduction in 1971) and the motor drive is taller on the F2A but wider on the F-1. Which is your favorite?

Model A made from 1909 to 1915. This is the first model with the F.P.K. Automatic shutter and Bausch & Lomb Optical Company lens. It originally used 124 roll film but the proper adapter can shoot 120 films. This camera is from the collection of well-known New Mexico photographer and writer, Ken Cobean (Hial Kenyon Cobean, Jr.)

Nicca 3-F from 1957.
35mm rangefinder camera from Japan.
Some detractors say it's a Leica copy, but by 1957, Nicca had made some nice changes to Leica's original design. I like to say it's Leica-like or Leica-inspired. After all, isn't everything inspired by something else?
If you can find a nice example of this fine camera, it would make an excellent addition to any classic camera collection at less than half the cost of a similar Leica.
