Seen along CA-211 on the way to Ferndale, this farmer is starting to look a bit worn. He's always there bucking a bale of hay and he always looks kinda happy to me.
CC Week 19: different perspectives
The challenge this week is to photograph our subjects from different or unusual perspectives.
It was interesting to see the way commercial growers manage their apple trees thesse days. While there are some old orchards with more traditionally shaped trees, most orchards now grow and train apple trees like this. Apples are the main crop in this area, though cherries and pears are also plentiful.

This redwood carving measures 11 inches (28cm) tall. Setup was along one side of a light box with just one LED on the outside and pointed upwards. Black acrylic sheets below and to the right, mirror acrylic sheet to the left. I was proud of myself for having remembered to clean all three acrylic sheets. It wasn't until post-processing that I remembered some very important advice from CC Camerwork, namely:
"If your product is small, and your photo is macro, get cleaning! A brush & air blower are good to get the last spots of dust & tiny fibres out of there just before you take your shot." So my advice is not to look too closely at this image.
