Inside a sea cave at Ayia Napa

Shot from inside a cave near Vik, Iceland, on Reynisfjara (Black) Beach. Note the sea stack on the far left and the wild Atlantic Ocean surf.

The caves run deep into the hillside above West Wycombe village and directly beneath St Lawrence's Church and Mausoleum (which were also constructed by Sir Francis Dashwood around the same time the caves were excavated). West Wycombe Park, ancestral seat of the Dashwood family and also a National Trust property, lies directly across the valley. The caves' striking entrance, designed as the façade of a mock gothic church and built from flint and chalk mortar, which was erected in around 1752, can be viewed directly from West Wycombe House.

Tınaztepe Cave, one of the longest caves in the world

Tınaztepe caves are located in Seydişehir, Konya. The world's third, is Turkey's largest caves. Its total length is 22 km, and its navigable part is 1580 meters. It is a completely horizontal cave except the 64-meter descent at the end. It was opened in 2004 as Cave Recreation Facilities.

Located at the crossing of the Konya-Antalya Highway on the Taurus Mountains and discovered by the French scientist Michel Bakalowichz in 1968, the cave is an important natural wonder.

In addition to stalactites and stalagmites, Tınaztepe Cave offers a different environment to its guests with its unchanging heat in summer and winter in its open section.

Stalactites and stalagmites, a cave with a lake inside. The cave, where daily tours are organized due to the ease of transportation, fascinates those who see it. Tinaztepe actual length of 22 kilometers, one of Turkey's longest cave. One of the three few caves in the world

There is 75 percent humidity inside the cave. An ideal cave for asthma patients

There numerous small caves such as this one throughout the park, each one being unique. I don't think this little cave even has a name.

Qumran (Hebrew: קומראן‎‎; Arabic: خربة قمران‎‎ Khirbet Qumran) is an archaeological site in the West Bank managed by Israel's Qumran National Park.[1] It is located on a dry plateau about 1.5 km (1 mi) from the northwestern shore of the Dead Sea, near the Israeli settlement and kibbutz of Kalya. The Hellenistic period settlement was constructed during the reign of John Hyrcanus, 134-104 BCE or somewhat later, and was occupied most of the time until it was destroyed by the Romans in 68 CE or shortly after. It is best known as the settlement nearest to the Qumran Caves where the Dead Sea Scrolls were hidden, caves in the sheer desert cliffs and beneath, in the marl terrace. The principal excavations at Qumran were conducted by Roland de Vaux in the 1950s, though several later unearthings at the site have since been carried out. (Wikipedia)

Skjonghelleren is a 100 meter deep cave some 15 minutes drive from where I live. As you can see, the opening is pretty high. If people used to live in the gave is not proved, but it has obviously been an important shelter. Seal bones found in the cave is dated 30,000 years old. The seals have probably been taken there by their predators.

Batu Caves, complex of limestone grottoes in Peninsular Malaysia. The caves are one of the country’s biggest tourist attractions and are a place of pilgrimage for Tamil Hindus. They are named for the Sungai Batu (Batu River), which flows nearby, and are located 7 miles (13 km) north of Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia.

The caves were little-known except to local residents until 1878, when the American naturalist William Temple Hornaday revealed their existence to the wider world. K. Thamboosamy Pillay, a leader of the Tamil Hindu community in Malaya (as the region was then called), built a temple within the caves in 1891. It is said that he took inspiration from the similarity in shape of the cave entrance to the tip of the vel, or spear, traditionally wielded by the deity Murugan. Thaipusam, the Tamil Hindu festival devoted to Murugan, was first celebrated on the site in 1892 and is now a major event that attracts hundreds of thousands of pilgrims annually.

The Batu Caves are located within a high limestone outcropping. A colossal gold-painted statue of Murugan, made from reinforced concrete and 140 feet (42.7 metres) in height, stands near the base of a flight of 272 steps. As visitors climb the steps, they are frequently accosted by macaques begging aggressively for food. At the top of the steps is the entrance to the largest cave, called Cathedral Cave or Temple Cave. Within it is the largest of several temples on the site. At a lower level on the flight of steps is Dark Cave, which is sometimes closed to visitors. Other caves lie still closer to the base of the steps. Ramayana Cave has an entrance marked with a statue of the monkey god Hanuman, hero of the Indian epic poem Ramayana. The cave itself is lined with dioramas depicting scenes from the epic. The Cave Villa, which includes Art Gallery Cave and Museum Cave, features more paintings and statues.

The Buchan Caves are a group of limestone caves that include the Royal Cave and the Fairy Cave, located south-west of Buchan, in the East Gippsland region of the Australian state of Victoria. They have a total length of between 3 and 4 kilometres (1.9 and 2.5 mi), and six entrances.[2]

The Buchan Cave Reserve has been transferred back to the Gunaikurnai Nation and is jointly managed with the state.

The limestone rock at Buchan was laid down during the Devonian period about 300 – 400 million years ago. At the time, the sea covered this area of East Gippsland which was alive with shellfish and coral. Their remains were deposited in layers and over the years compacted to form limestone. The caves were formed by solution of the limestone.

For several years we were trying to reach these caves and finally in 2019 we done it!

……Not caves at all really but an old Slate quarry which has left this huge cavernous opening under Loughrigg Fell in Cumbria, its usually a paddle or walk on stepping stones to get inside but once inside its quite dry for most part. Alan:-)………

The Batu Caves are limestone caves around 15 kilometers north of the Malaysian capital Kuala Lumpur and are home to several Hindu temples. Although the caves had long been known to the local tribes, they did not become famous until 1878 by the American William Temple Hornaday.

Every year at the end of January or beginning of February, the Batu Caves become the focal point of the Hindu "Thaipusam" festival with its sometimes masochistic rites.

Known as the "secret cave", this cave is not really a secret, but it is very difficult to get to on foot. Timing is key - it can only be accessed at low tide. There are also some tough climbs on the way, it's definitely not accessible on foot to everyone.

Recently explored Millican Dalton's Cave below Castle Crag in the Lake District. Millican Dalton, the self-styled “Professor of Adventure” lived in a cave in summer on the side of Castle Crag for nearly 50 years. I was drawn to this constant flow of water landing on the rocks with lush ferns behind. Set myself a task to capture the flow and splash.

Third largest cave in the US

No visit to Ipoh would be complete without seeing one of its many Chinese / Buddhist cave temples. Unfortunately, this temple had closed for the day by the time I arrived that evening.

I think a return trip to Hocking Hills needs to happen soon. This is Ash Cave, and the falls at the far end are 90' high.
