One of the important life lessons in this house is........YOU DON'T MESS WITH THE CATS. Lucy's tail is at the top of the photo as she's sitting on the table with her head peering over the other side glaring at Emily. Emily has learned that she can practice her puppy shenanigans with everyone in the house except the cats. The cats get along with all of the dogs as long as the dogs follow the cat rules. Emily is a few days shy of 6 months old.

If you have been a little north of Santa Cruz, you probably recognize these buildings. We've been several times and each time there are cats that hang out around the houses. The houses are the remains of a once thriving ranch. Actually, it may still be a thriving ranch; I don't know. Anyway, the cats rule the place. They may be feral, but, they are pretty friendly, so, they may be friendly feral cats. The Santa Cruz area tends to make friendly cats.

It’s true, as Freddie sees me (& the girls) near the table for MY (and then their) dinner…he jumps off his bed and pretend to have something to eat!
Otherwise he will go one meowing and doing noise and mess! He knows the only sounds I want to hear when I eat are the ones from my serial TVs!
I can send Lassie to chase him but he will come back…

It was nap time and Nokia, Blythe's cat was having his favourite dream:
"What if Cats ruled the world? There would be plenty of fish in the sea bowl, plenty mice to catch, balls of yarn galore and all dogs would be in jail... Ah! If Cats ruled!"
But Clandestine would not allow this to happen to Cabotin (her dog) even in a dream. So she was about to burst Nokia's bubble...

The abandoned village of ‘Aldeia do Sanguinho' is slowly being restored. But until then, cats rule this kingdom. The trail to this village has a stone winding roads, nice waterfall known as 'Salto do Prego' (Jump of the Nail) the way and wilderness. I recommend going to Faial da Terra area, great exploring.
It is a well known fact, cats rule the internet as well as the homes of the people they choose to spend their lives with.
How could we resist including a cat in this peaceful scene?
This happy tabby has spent the day chasing free-range mice. There are not many felines who enjoy travel yet this one seems right at home in her 1947 Ken-Skill Kustom Kamper.
Back in the late 1960s, our family took a new kitten on a camping trip below Maroon Bells in Colorado. Baby kitty was having a ball and leaving lots of trophies in the car and camper. Most were still alive. You haven’t been camping until you have shared a sleeping bag with a field mouse.
It came time to go and the kitten was no where to be seen. We double checked camper, car and campsite. We kids frantically called and called. After nearly an hour, the folks decided we had to go. Five kids were crying as the car started. Almost as if on cue, kitty came out of the brush with another trophy!

Yes, there is such a thing as too dark of a room as you can tell by this series. But I couldn't resist posting it despite all the noise (I altered the exposure in picnik). This main photo is actually the last of the series, but it shows the stress Bogart feels. He's only petrified of two cats: Ariel and Curiosity. All it takes is one hiss at him and his anxiety flares up. (Someday maybe Raven will learn that as she isn't fond of his affectionate corn-cobbing.) When Bogart gets stressed, well, he yawns with that look on his face. . .
That's nothing really unusual here as the cats rule and do more or less whatever they like. I only try to stop them from doing things that could be dangerous and lying on tables is unlikely to cause them any harm. Linus was lying on the table on the terrace here. That table is particularly popular right now because it's in the shade and offers a nice view on THE BIRDS.

A while ago we bought a new armchair and I thought it would be nice to have a pouffe to put my feet on. So I spent ages trying to find one that was the right colour and size. It took weeks to find one and I was really pleased with the result. Managed to put my feet on it once before the cats took it over. So I spent another few weeks finding yet another pouffe (the original was the last of it's stock line). Didn't even get to put my feet on that one at all. Talk about cats rule:-)
