A cargo canal barge of B&W Fuels comes through Cassiobury Park Lock No.75 with supplies for the boat owners on the Grand Union Canal up past Watford.
Woodsmoke drifts away from a houseboat trying to keep warm on a cold Sunday afternoon. Grand Union Canal, Cassiobury Park, Watford.
On a beautiful foggy and misty morning we had a photo walk from Cassiobury Park to Whippendell Woods. It was cold at first but soon warmed up. One of the highlights of the day was capturing a shot of a Kingfisher which I had been trying to do for 25 years!

The River Gade runs alongside and even joins the Grand Union Canal through Watford and Cassiobury Park. The old stone bridge in the middle of the picture was once site of an old mill. Cassiobury Weir can be seen to the left of it.

On a rare midweek day off we took ourselves off to Cassiobury Park in Watford to try and get some Autumn shots before all the leaves were gone. We were headed for the River Gade and the Grand Union Canal.

Canal Boat, Cassiobury Park, Watford.
I have been doing a bit of work on colour in the context of films and it has led me to be a bit more experimental with some of my photography.
I have recently become quite intrigued by the idea of life afloat, so whilst walking along the canal in Watford I was compelled to try and photograph this boat. I used the Camera + App on the iPhone, rather than the standard phone app in an effort to slow the shutter speed sufficiently to get the ripples out of the water and a nice reflection of the boat. I was unsuccessful.
No filters have been applied but some post-processing took place in Lightroom.

The first winter storm of the season (2022 to 2023) fell in Watford on Sunday 11th December.
After a very mild year it has been the first month to be colder than average. It is also the first time we had snow in 2 years. Read more soon on my round up at the end of this cold spell.

After a trip to the Drs to get a vaccination shot for an upcoming Holiday I took the fold up bike on the Met Line and headed back to the Grand Union Canal again at Watford. With better skies than the day before I was able to get a couple of shots I'd seen previously. The River in the picture is the Gade that runs through Cassiobury park alongside the Grand Union Canal.
Woken early by the sound of foxes outside on a Sunday morning, i took a look out and was charmed by the Autumn mist. I had my morning tea and drove down to the park for some misty Autumnal photography. It was great to see other enthusiasts out with their cameras at that time of the morning...
An unnamed Canal Boat sits in front of Cassiobury Park Bridge waiting for it's turn to take the lock up. 'Serenade' was about to enter the lock the other side to make the trip down.
I went on a hunt for a Little Owl and found him hiding in this tree with a fire breathing dragon
