This very special and rare whisky that I treated myself to last year is the ideal antidote to the dull, cold and wet weather that we are currently having here. This stuff is liquid poetry. Cheers!

Now switched to an 40 year old 85mm f/1.8 manual focus Nikon lens. In the dimly lit lounge, it performs pretty well. The whiskey in focus is 1976 vintage at cask strength (50% alcohol by volume). One glass from this bottle costs 1800 baht (about US $58). This 40 year old Nikon lens performs well, considering that it cost me about $150 in mint condition.

OVERALL
Barrell Bourbon Batch 033 hits the spot, offering a delicious spicy-sweet mix of flavors bottled at a proof that’s full-flavored, but not hot.
According to Barrell Craft Spirits, “Batch 033 is a marriage of high-rye barrels and high-corn barrels ranging in age from 5 to 9 years old. Two sets of barrels mingled together for two months, then the balance was adjusted for the most optimal combination.”
Barrell Craft Spirits offers consistently high-quality products across the board, with each bourbon batch carrying similar undertones and often a blend of bourbons from three different states. Sometimes, a particular batch hits the sweet spot for my palate, bringing the flavors together in a harmony that pleases my palate. Batch 033 hits the right spot for me, balancing deliciously sweet butterscotch, caramel, and kettle corn notes with robust baking spices and just the tiniest punch of citrus on the palate. It’s a lively combination of flavors, and at a barrel proof of 116 that’s high, but not too high, the intensity of everything is spot on. If you’re looking for a bold and lively bourbon that balances rich sweet flavors with robust spice notes, Barrell Bourbon Batch 033 is for you.
