The Big Tree, Paignton, Devon. I like the shades of colour, the patterns, and the cracks in the wood.
This brick is one of the carvings on Myddleton Passage in London. Police in the 19th century would carve their badge numbers into the bricks on their beat.
I heard about this from historian Richard Jones, & we quickly stopped here on a private tour while I was there in November 2022.

When I was in Xi`an , China , our group had the usual tourist visit to a jade centre showroom. The Chinese are very proud of their tradition of carving jade by hand & many fine intricate examples were on show . I just had to admire their craftsmanship .

"The steep hillsides of the Dazu area contain an exceptional series of rock carvings dating from the 9th to the 13th century. They are remarkable for their aesthetic quality, their rich diversity of subject matter, both secular and religious, and the light that they shed on everyday life in China during this period. They provide outstanding evidence of the harmonious synthesis of Buddhism, Taoism and Confucianism."

Tucked between forested slopes and limestone cliffs, Slovenia’s canyons are a hidden world of motion and sound. In autumn, they come alive in a whole new way — golden and crimson leaves cling to mossy rocks, and waterfalls surge through narrow gorges with a rhythm that feels ancient and wild.
In a country full of beauty, Slovenia’s canyons are its quiet pulse — rushing, carving, shaping the land, year after year.
