BACKSTORY: Rainbow Party #18: Red #2: Red Redux: Blood Red: The Blood Red Party: 26 people. Clio & Carolyn, AE & Meagan, Puppy, Akira, Sideshow Bob, Javier & Katherine G, Diane & Andrew, Emily, Erica, Liz, Carlos, Olivia, Jen Lee & Atool, Jayce & Max, Tyanna, Jill, Tom & Katie, Lex, Jax. Lots of socializing, and some cuddling. One 13-person L-C-R game (Sideshow Bob won). 3 couples slow-dancing to "Lady In Red" while wearing red was surreal as hell [C&C,Olivia&Max,Jen&Atool]. Max's blood bath -- being covered in blood -- was epic... But we really wish that people had figured out how to turn the hose on BEFORE covering him in blood.... Bringing him into our shower left red stains in our bathroom for a good 6 months. They seemed to have eventually faded. Meanwhile, people were still hanging out at 4:30AM. BACKSTORY: We went to BronyCon this year! Over 8,000 people showed up. This was the only time we really spent the whole weekend there -- the following year (2014), we only went for a few hours on the way back from an exhausting family vacation, and the year after that (2015), we didn't goat all. Attendance is over 10,000 nowadays. Frickin' crazy.
An interesting yard sale take this week: It organizes pretty well for photographs. Less of a pain than usual. Too bad the fire extinguisher was dead.

BACKSTORY: Got up around 8:25AM, made it out driving by 9:00AM and went out until 1:11PM for a total of 4 hours, 11 minutes. Spent $30.50 plus ~$9.79 gas for 43.3 miles of driving (16.5 mpg @ $3.73/G), for a total cost of $40.29. We drove to 43 yard sales, stopping at 26 (60%) of them. We made 18 purchases (23 items) for a total estimated value of $187.35, leading to a profit/savings of $147.06. So in essence, we multiplied our $40.29 investment by 4.65X.
(Also, if you think about it, the profit counts for even more when you consider that we have to earn $~167 on the job, pre-tax, in order to take home the $187 in cash that we saved. How long does $187 of disposable income take to earn, vs the 4.183 hrs we spent here?)
Anyway, this works out to a *post-tax* "wage" of $35.15/hr as a couple or $17.58/hr per person. Kinda shabby compared to usual numbers.

BACKSTORY: 9/30: Rainbow Party #3: Yellow: The No Evite Late-Nite-BDSM Experiment: 21 people: Clint & Carolyn, Dave, Jess, Akira, Puppy, Svetlana, Paul & Katina, Evan, Wolf & Callan, Christi, Javier, Celia & Ben & Jeremy, Melisse, Sideshow Bob, Lisa, Alex. 7:30PM start time, but it took quite awhile before Svetlana showed up, and quite a bit longer (midnight) before the majority of the guests arrived. Clint's turmeric-dyed pants matched the yellow All shirt quite well. 4-5 Simpsons episodes playing at once, in tribute of yellow. Svetlana assembled the glow-in-the-dark triceratops;Wolfie assembled the human skeleton. The $~2 yardsale bowling alley (6 pins, 5 frames) was promptly destroyed by Callan throwing the ball instead of bowling it. Sideshow Bob brought his Violet Wand kit to show Clint, so we had 3 violet wands in the house. Yellow dress was almost universal -- but we missed Svetlana's bumblebee outfit :) The power went out around midnight, just as a lot of people were arriving. That didn't stop anything, and that didn't stop the 2AM light-BDSM scenes from happening either. Then Clint brought out as many battery powered things as possible. And then the Tazapper & TENS unit toys. At one point Clint lost his drink on the main road -- hiking around to try to identify the source of the power failure -- and it took awhile to find it in the dark. That cup almost escaped! The new Green Lantern cartoon is fantastic -- though it took me a bit to accept its weird cgi-ness. We loved the movie as well (both the live-action one, and the several animated movies that preceeded it). Time for us poozers to get a figure, since it was only 12.5 cents.

BACKSTORY: Clint had to take some pictures of his guitar because he was trying to buy a replacement for the tremolo bar. This guitar belonged to Clint's dad, but Clint started playing it in high school and so we ended up with it when we moved out. It's a Teisco Del Rey ET-200 guitar from the 60's.

BACKSTORY: Great camping trip with Clint & Carolyn, Eli & Parthena, Dan & Erin, Evan, TwoBeans, and of course Oranjello & Lemonjello.
This trip was full of firsts! Things that happened that had never happened before! The 2nd gate (complete with bullet holes) was mysteriously open for the first time ever. We heard sirens for the first time ever. An ambulance skulked around for hours, and pulled up on the path by our campsite, making a 20-point U-turn. First time we ever saw a real vehicle on the road. Apparently someone had to be rescued this weekend. The ambulance created paranoia: When the moon rose, atleast one member of our party was convinced that it was a spotlight. It was also TwoBeans's first time camping with us here. It was also the first time Evan arrived before we did; he couldn't find the site and went on a pleasant extended hike. It was the first time Clint had to turn down Eli's food, because he appetite was destroyed by ordering too much food at Sheetz and running late. It was the first time Evan came up with no stuff at all, as he had planned to go to his cabin. But didn't; other people volunteered an extra sleeping bag, so he slept in his car. He left rather suddenly, causing Clint to walk to the path yelling his name out wondernig where he'd went. It was the first time in a long time that we forgot to bring and set up our hammock.
Other than that, things were pretty normal. The moon was so full you could pee without a flashlight if you were so inclined. Cloud cover later made the stargazing not as good, but 5 out of 8 of us took a night walk down to Evan's car anyway. Despite the late-October date and forecast low of 49 degrees, it was actually warmer at night than many camping trips; Clint only wore 3 of his 7 layers -- UNLIKE at X-Day. We only saw one set of people riding horses. The creek was not running. Eli made awesome food. Last man standing was TwoBeans.

Sometimes I consider arrangements of random objects in my house to be "art".
For the longest time Jetfire, Megatron, Goliath, Spider-Man, and Batman all stood side by side, with their right arm extended, and the "A dictatorship would be easier" anti-George W. Bush bumper sticker up on their shoulders. I would have used the left arm, like with Bush, but only Spider-Man's right arm raised.
And yes, Jetfire, an Autobot, is holding Ravage (aka Jaguar), a Decepticon, in his hand like a gun.
But then my 7-speaker stereo came along, deploying new speakers where there were no previously evicting these guys to other parts of the house. Somehow, this Rubik's Globe ended un on a piece of paper that was a map of the world, creating an interesting juxtaposition. Somehow, Megatron ended up next to it. His broken leg causes him to lean on the world, which makes me think of Atlas and Atlas Shrugged. And also how Megatron wanted to exploit the world.
Putting them in front of my Aunt Beth's gum-wrapper American-flag art seemed fitting. And then throwing The Tick on there was just kind of funny.
I wish the best-composed shot hadn't come out blurry. I liked it better when Ravage/Jaguar's face was pushed past the American flag. It added to the symbolism.

We got the missing Gargoyles and Bad Guys (Gagoyles spinoff) comic books from Carolyn's wishlist. Finally we have all the Gargoyles stuff we were missing! :)

The fudge (in the metal box) was delicious; even Clint liked it, and he generally isn't crazy aobut fudge. And the fruit was good too. Carolyn ate the apples and oranges with her lunches, and Clint regretted only getting one of the green apples.
The bra book is interesting, and I think we thumbed through it at the Sex Museum in NYC.
That portable bowl is going to be VERY handy for Carolyn when we go camping! It has already been assimilated into Carolyn's camping backpack, so she won't have any chance of forgetting it.
The novelty brain/tongue/roach/poo were put on our food during Clint's birthday party, during which someone moved the fake poo to the top of the toilet, where it now remains.

BACKSTORY: We went to BronyCon this year! Over 8,000 people showed up. This was the only time we really spent the whole weekend there -- the following year (2014), we only went for a few hours on the way back from an exhausting family vacation, and the year after that (2015), we didn't go at all. Attendance is over 10,000 nowadays. Frickin' crazy.
That Moose Munch was delicious, but it seemed kind of pointless since the container said some exhorbitant price like $34 on the bottom, and it was basically three bags of cracker jacks. Granted, this was the "prime cut" of cracker jacks, in three different flavors, but I'm really hoping it didn't really cost $34, because that's ridiculous.
Carolyn loved the toffee, but Clint doesn't like toffee.
We haven't eaten the jalapenos, hot sauce, and honey mustard yet. Long live brown mustard. Yellow mustard is not real mustard. It should be spelled musTURD
We hung the Monopoly lights up for Clint's party.
You can see the cherry skulls on the license plate covers, which went to Carolyn's car.
The homemade deodorant gets more confusing if you lose the label, think it's toothpaste, and then brush your teeth with it. Definitely felt fresher in my mouth. Never brushed my teeth with deodorant before.
We didn't really have a place for a 3rd disco ball -- but then I broke one putting away other Christmas gifts, so the 3rd disco ball replaced the 2nd one we had.

These were at the same yardsale with the DVD's and the "that guy must have been high" man. Carolyn asked how much the ponies were, and the lady said $3 for the entire bag of stuff. Carolyn didn't really want everything, but when Clint came with the Silver Surfer action figure, and something else, Carolyn asked if the lady would take $3 for those too, so we kinda slipped those in for free. Now we have a LOT of ponies.
We gave away the previous one we got to Steve G, someone we accidentally bronified. (His mistake was ever thinking Clint was "reasonable", haha!) He also got 3 of the combs.
And yes, there's some non-pony stuff in here too. It quickly made its way to our "free stuff desk".

Pamela wanted to take a picture of us vaping with our e-cigarettes. But she forgot her camera, so we settled for ours. Unfortunately the shots were a bit blurry.
Interesting light here, the blue TV screen light coming from Winamp's Milkdrop plugin, and the purple coming from our ambilights, which are probably within milliseconds of switching to match the blue on the TV screen.

The only panel we went to was the Artists Panel on the first day. After looking at the program, we realized that the panels for the second day weren't that interesting, except for the panels that included the voice actors which were either early in the morning (we may have even missed half of it not waking up in time), or restricted to kids (Tabitha St. Germain's thing).

...Karen Milligan is a Fairfax County official marriage celebrant. She married Clint and Carolyn, Chris W and Jeri, and Greg and Nicole!
A small haul item-wise, but not volume-wise. We filled the dcar. This was the craziest yardsaling experience ever because of the derecho storm that happened the day before. But of course, we assumed that there'd be less competition due to the storm giving people problems to deal with, and that we'd thusly get a better selection to choose from.
We spent $47.00 on items + $11.09 on gas, and we were out for just over 5 hours, 3 hours and 21 minutes of which was driving. We drove a total 41.2 miles.
The ping pong table was the most expensive item at $20.00. We need paddles, though.
The storage units are a godsend for our increasingly-cluttered utility room. The discarded cabinet wood is basically trash that we're putting in our windows to keep the sun out.

Yes, I do believe that's 3 VCRs hooked up, as well as a 100 CD changer. How quaint. These days, I just use my computer for everything. But you can tell I was starting to get into that -- notice Windows on my big TV!
I still use the VCR on the bottom, and the one on the top is still operational. The one in the middle isn't. The stereo is now broken, but still works. You just have to completely crank it and waste electricity. The CD player broke, and Best Buy violated their maintenance contract by not replacing it after 4 repairs. [They called them repairs, then at #4 retroactively called them cleanings and thus not repairs]. The blacklight is broken.
The Mr. Bungle poster, which I got years before I ever heard Mr. Bungle (I thought they might be somebody I might eventually like--and was right), is in my living room. The big TVdied after 23 years, and the monitor is of course dead. The little TV (to the left of the big TV) is still alive. The speaker barely works.
I don't use the wireless headphones anymore (transmitter on top of little TV) because they sucked.
And no - I have no clue what that fork is doing by my head.
The speakers are all still functional, of course.
The company on my shorts? Long gone. They bought my house, I quit 1 month after settlement, and they ceased to exist within 2 yrs.

BACKSTORY: Carolyn's 35th birthday party. 35 people. 8 SubGenuises! 2 cakes! Only 1 visit to the attic this time. Made it 'til 6AM. Still had people over the next day.

BACKSTORY: We went to BronyCon this year! Over 8,000 people showed up. This was the only time we really spent the whole weekend there -- the following year (2014), we only went for a few hours on the way back from an exhausting family vacation, and the year after that (2015), we didn't go at all. Attendance is over 10,000 nowadays. Frickin' crazy.
