The tent worked well - the only things which disturbed my sleep were a) our neighbours TV on quite loud until 00:30 and b) the noisy birds at 05:20 - not the pretty dawn chorus, but pigeons making a right old racket :-) However, the blackout feature worked pretty well, and cut out most of the daylight which would have woken me - if the birds hadn't already done so!
I had decided that, as the weather was due to be equally as hot as yesterday, I would shampoo the carpets today. This first of all involves vacuuming them with Henry, then doing a wash clean all over, followed by a rinse clean all over. I did downstairs this morning, and went to fetch someone's medicines and had my lunch. Then I did the upstairs carpets. It takes as long again to clean the carpet shampoo machine, as the dirt, hairs, carpets strands, etc. all get stuck in the little brushes. I take the machine apart, and clean every bit of it including each of the 50 individual clumps of bristles. I then enjoyed a not-too-hot bath.
It was a great day to do the carpets, though, as they dried pretty quickly :-) Meanwhile, Mike and Bethan had a trip to IKEA in Reading, which was also quite a good thing to do on a hot day, with air conditioning in car and store.
