A tiny, slender plant, it stands out from the crowd because of its diet. Hair-like tendrils on each reddish leaf are tipped with glistening droplets that attract passing insects. But this 'dew' is very sticky, trapping the insect; the sundew's tendrils detect the presence of its stuck prey and curl inwards to engulf it. Eventually, the whole leaf wraps around the insect which is digested. (The Wildlife Trusts)

Pitcher plants are several different carnivorous plants which have modified leaves known as pitfall traps—a prey-trapping mechanism featuring a deep cavity filled with digestive liquid. The traps of what are considered to be "true" pitcher plants are formed by specialized leaves. The plants attract and drown their prey with nectar.

It's the year 2020 and this is the only carnivorous plant species left, which of course must be pollinated by Bee-bots (TM) --we finally murdered all bees--, which in turn fabricate this totally horrendous Honey (TM) like stiff rancid toffee. Woohoohoo!

Here is another one of this year's sand sculptures at Ludwigsburg, this one is called "the carnivourous plant". I will probably visit the park again tomorrow morning but I'm not sure if the other sculptures have made much progress since last weekend as the weather has been rather dreadful lately.

These little plants are fun to own, but you really have to care for them! Fresh water every day!

These are mostly, I think, what the article calls "yellow pitcher plants". The Garden is selling 4-5 different kinds of carnivorous plants this week.

I used to think one had to catch flies to feed them and keep them happy, but that's def. not true! They do very nicely on a myriad of minute flying insects, so small that we can hardly see them—which fly in by themselves. I was shown the exo-skeletons surviving on some plants.

Last day of the Carnivorous Plant Sale at the UC Botanical Garden. They moved a lot of these to new homes during 8 days, although the tables always seemed loaded. Volunteers had propagated these over time. Many happy customers! These sales are fundraisers for much needed cash at the nonprofit Garden!
