The folks from 3M (the Post It Notes people) contacted me through Flickr more than a year after my 2006 Post It Notes car photos had become a phenomenon.
Michelle Gebbie, eMarketing Supervisor from 3M Office Supplies Division, was seeking permission from me to use the Post It Note Car photos in marketing materials for a contest that the photos had inspired.
I responded, asking her where the photos would be used and what their budget was. She responded saying that they would be used for 6 months on in-store displays, and that they would not pay more than it would cost for them to copy our car and take their own photos. I respectfully asked for a little more than that and she stopped returning emails.
They really did do a good job copying it, didn't they? Even Walt thought it was his own car. Now I am getting tons of comments and notes from people saying "I saw your photo at Staples" (or OfficeMax, Office Depot, etc.). Look at their YouTube video. Clearly they wanted people to see it in the store and think it was the same car they'd seen before on Flickr and YouTube.

Philly PD meets East Hempfield Township to recover a vehicle taken in a carjacking in Philadelphia that was recovered by EHPD just off Route 30.
Sure, they're pretty busy over there, but the township cop is none too happy that he's been waiting almost 4 hours for the the big city officer to arrive.

While troopers and a deputy are handling a one vehicle crash, out on the highway, they get a call that a man stumbled into Albany Metals, awhile ago, asked to use the bathroom, and hasn't came out since.
Turns out the Mercedes was taken in a carjacking at the Crossgates Commons Super Walmart.

I was forced to leave downtown Portland early! While snapping pics of downtown scenery, I was approached hostilely by a young man, I assume homeless, demanding a picture I took be deleted because he was in it. I wasn't going to stand there letting some nut from the streets go through my pictures while he rips me off. I knew I kind of stood out as a target, acting like a tourist and buying Voodoo Doughnuts and stuff. He proceeded to stalk me for eight blocks and threatening me while trying to recruit someone else to help him rectify his plight. But he never got any other guys to help him in his quest. Now I was faced with the task of finding my car while being stalked and under threat of harm. When I found my car, I was shaking and couldn't open the door because he caught up to me, but I managed to get in. I thought I was going to have to fight him for control of my car. Believe it or not, I had to do that once before in my hometown of Fresno during an attempted carjacking, an event in my life that took me years to get over. He seemed disappointed when he saw my California plates - I guess he wanted to follow me to where I lived if I lived in town. If indeed he was in a photo I took I will post his picture because he is a stalker, and what he did to me was way worse than keeping someone's picture without their permission. Not quite sure what crimes were committed - you never know whose side the laws fall on. He took pictures of me while following me with his cell phone, saying he was going to publicize my image in some way. I don't know. I had one more place to see - Providence Park (Jeld-Wen Field), home of the Portland Timbers! But downtown Portlandia was chasing me out, perhaps for good. Get a hold on your street scum problem, Portland.

First i thought it was feathers, but if you look better, you'll see that those feathers are in fact..parrots! Look well, they have the heads near the hands of the papuan woman!

The first gun we ever owned. First saw it in a gunshow last year. Then really fell in love with it when we saw it in the movie Max Payne.
The Taurus Judge is a five shot revolver designed and produced by Taurus International, chambered for .410 bore shot shells and the .45 Colt cartridge. Taurus promotes the gun as a self defense tool against carjacking and for home protection.
It got its name "The Judge" in 2006 when Bob Morrison, Executive Vice President, learned that judges in high-crime areas of Miami, Florida were purchasing the revolver for personal defense in their courtrooms.
