These are the pretty pattern of a box of chocolates (a christmas edition called 'treasure of the Tsar') ... empty for a long time now - but I tend to squirrel away pretty little things (for presents, to take photographs of ...)
you see about 6 cm of the little box - the dots are 2 mm wide

Das ist das hübsche Muster einer Pralinenschachtel (eine Weihnachtsausgabe namens 'Schatz des Zaren') ... schon seit langem leer - aber ich neige dazu, Dinge zu horten (für Geschenke, zum Fotografieren ...)
man sieht etwa 6 cm der kleinen Schachtel - die Punkte sind 2 mm breit

Durch die Verfügbarkeit technisch-wissenschaftlicher Taschenrechner (beginnend 1972, also vor fünfzig Jahren, mit Hewlett-Packards HP-35) wurde in kurzer Zeit der Rechenschieber verdrängt und die tägliche Arbeit von Ingenieuren und Naturwissenschaftlern drastisch verändert. Diese Entwicklung wäre natürlich – wie viele andere – undenkbar gewesen ohne Transistoren und ihre miniaturisierte Zusammenführung in integrierten Schaltungen. Im Jahr 1972 war die Verdrängung der Elektronenröhre mit ihrem geradezu romantisch erscheinenden Glühen zwar schon weit fortgeschritten, aber noch nicht vollendet.
Das Lehrbuch Fundamentals of Electronic Circuits [Grundlagen der elektronischen Schaltungen] von Arthur L. Pike, Prentice-Hall, 1971, berücksichtigt beide Technologien gleichermassen.

The UCH11 was a triode-hexode composite tube for adjustable mixing circuits and had a steel bulb instead of the glass bulb that was common and characteristic for tubes. There were several manufacturers, this one was made by Valvo/Philips in Hamburg for the German Armed Forces (Wehrmacht).
A package arrived today with some almost 'last minute' Christmas presents, I always do my Christmas shopping 'just in time'. No, the cat isn't the present, although the fluffball has quite a lot of fans among family and friends, mainly because he is probably the most open-minded and easy-going cat on this planet. The first words of visitors usually aren't 'how are you doing', not even 'hello', but 'where is Tofu' ! :)

Paint Splatter on a Cardboard Box.....seen in project room at Past Perfect Too

I cut out the small blue arrows from blue cardboard; they are between 1 and 2.5 cm high. I also cut out a mask with an arrow out of cardboard and placed it in front of the macro lens. It ensured that the individual lamps in the chain of lights in the background do not appear as a point of light but also as a blue arrow in the picture.

...is not abandoned: The housework that would have been due today, but as it is, I had to photograph the moldavite ring I'd used for this week's MM theme "Souvenir" (please see first comment) - as requested by Chandana Witharanage and Fire Fighter's Wife. I didn't find it easy (to photograph the ring, not to postpone the housework), and tried many different positions and backgrounds, and in the end settled for putting it on the cardboard box I'd used as a background for "Souvenir".
Canadian singer-songwriter, Gordon Lightfoot died last week. I decided to make a Spotify playlist of his songs and discovered that one of the songs on this album is about a Persian cat. I've listened to it innumerable times and always assumed "Daylight Katy" was a woman. Lightfoot was a special and talented man who leaves behind a legacy of wonderful music!
