Experimenting with lightweight racks; this perimeter (¼" stainless steel lugs, 5mm CF tubing) weighs 30 grams for a ~7.5×9.5" perimeter.
It will be considerably heavier after I add the central rails, light mount, di2 battery mount, fender mount, whatever I'm going to do for a backstop, and fork crown & leg stays. But "considerably heavier" may be 100-150 grams instead of 350-400 grams for a similarly sized steel rack.
Hitting the scales at exactly 1kg, thanks to carbon fiber rims (Nextie hookless) & 15 gauge spokes.
This was a hard one to balance & true, because these rims are so stiff that I accidentally way overtensioned everything the first time around, so I had to detension the whole shebang and try again.
The matching rear wheel is going to be built around a Novatec hub, so it will come in at ~780 grams and give me a sub 2kg wheelset that I can tuck some of my 650×25b Schwalbe Ones onto.
