Shot on February 1, Comet C/2022 E3 (ZTF) will reach its closest point to Earth. It’ll sweep 27 million miles away (that’s 44 million km, or 0.29 AU). At that point, it’ll still be more than 100 times the moon’s distance away.

The last time this comet passed near the sun was 50,000 years ago, when Neanderthals walked the Earth.

Capturing the ethereal beauty of Praia Três Castelos in Portugal, this captivating photograph showcases the mesmerizing allure of long exposure photography. Taken at the end of the day, when the sun gracefully sinks below the horizon, the image transports viewers to a realm of tranquility and serenity. The artful play of light and motion through the extended exposure reveals the interplay of soft waves gently caressing the sandy shore, casting an enchanting spell on the entire scene. The vibrant hues of the setting sun paint the sky with a myriad of warm colors, harmonizing perfectly with the deepening shadows and silhouettes of the distant cliffs. This photograph is a testament to the natural wonders found at Praia Três Castelos, where time seemingly slows down, inviting contemplation and appreciation of the breathtaking landscapes that nature so generously bestows.

A tribute to photography’s evolution, featuring two iconic cameras—one vintage, one modern. As Flickr turns 21, this shot represents the journey of visual storytelling, from classic film photography to contemporary digital perspectives. A reminder that the camera is just a tool, but vision is timeless.

In a world of speed and precision, one photographer finds stillness in the geometry of the scene. The sleek lines of the Porsche Museum intertwine with the silent observer, capturing a moment where architecture and artistry collide. A stairway becomes a stage, a lens a gateway—perspective is everything.

a street portrait of josé maría almoguera. we were coming from the banksy museum when we saw a man being photographed, a camera crew around him. i asked him what he did. i didn’t recognize him. he said he’s on tv sometimes. then i asked if i could take his portrait. he nodded right away. i still don’t really know what he does. but he was kind.

I captured this photograph on board the Brim Explorer during our return journey from Trollfjord to Solvaer. As we headed towards the Trollfjord, the passengers on deck were immersed in conversation, capturing the stunning scenery with their cameras. However, on our way back, the weather took a turn, and rain and cold descended upon us. Despite the adverse conditions, I was intrigued to find two persons braving the elements on the deck. Their resilience and determination made for a compelling image… Brim Explorer, Lofoten, Norway.

captured in the stunning bay of deià in northwest mallorca, the scene is a serene dance of nature's hues. as the sun sets, the sky is painted with warm tones of pink and orange, casting a tranquil glow over the calm waters. two sailboats drift gently in the distance, their silhouettes standing out against the vibrant backdrop. the rocky cliffs add a touch of ruggedness to the picturesque landscape, framing the peaceful moment perfectly. this image captures the essence of a mediterranean evening, where time stands still and beauty is everywhere.

on a warm day in palma, amidst the bustling streets, thomas and i embarked on a photo walk, discovering the hidden narratives of the city. thomas, with his incredible eye for detail, paused by a weathered door, intrigued by what lay beyond. his camera captured the essence of curiosity as he peered through a mail slot, uncovering the stories concealed within the shadows. this moment, frozen in black and white, embodies the timeless allure of street photography—finding beauty and intrigue in the ordinary.

My good friend Mr. Curtski deep in the jungle, capturing a lot of interesting stuff.

captured in palmanova, this image vividly illustrates the silent stories of two couples seated by the beach, their contrasting body language revealing the dynamics of their relationships. on the right, a couple sits closely with their legs angled towards each other, symbolizing a connection that has endured over time. their bodies lean slightly inward, indicating mutual interest and affection. in contrast, the couple on the left displays a different story; they sit apart with their bodies and legs turned away from each other, suggesting lives that have grown separate. each person seems lost in their own world, embodying a sense of isolation despite their physical proximity. the serene backdrop of sunbathers and gentle waves adds a layer of irony, as the beach's tranquility contrasts with the subtle emotional distance on the bench, showcasing how love can both thrive and wane over the years.

in the heart of milan, the majestic duomo stands as a testament to gothic grandeur, drawing visitors from all corners of the globe. on this day, an intriguing sight unfolds—tourists, many adorned in black and white, converge upon the cathedral's facade, capturing memories and marveling at its intricate beauty. the interplay of the human presence with the historic architecture adds a timeless quality to the scene, as if the simplicity of their attire echoes the monochrome elegance of the duomo itself. this convergence of past and present, of stone and soul, creates a tableau where the stories of the travelers and the whispers of history meld into one.

in el arenal, where the sun-soaked streets echo with stories of leisure and carefree days, thomas blends into the vibrant scene, not with stealth, but with humor. his propeller hat, a playful nod to the fun-loving spirit of the place, spins lightly in the warm breeze, a beacon of cheerful irony among the more predictable beach attire. thomas, camera in hand, captures the pulse of the "deutsche meile," leaning in, crouching low, every movement a dance with the lens. here, amidst the blend of german voices and spanish charm, he’s not just a photographer; he’s part of the scenery, recording the day with a wink and a grin. the photo, no doubt, will reflect the same—joyful, alive, and just a bit mischievous.

There are scenes everywhere I looked in the Smokey Mountains. This scene is on the Little River - right next to the main road. It feels a bit like cheating when I don't have to hike more than 5 foot from my car :)

on a vibrant day at the place des lices market in saint tropez, the scene is an eclectic mix of sights and scents. an elderly man, adorned in red trousers, a shirt peppered with cherry prints, and red glasses, stands thoughtfully before a bustling rotisserie stand. the vivid red of his outfit harmonizes with the bright decor of the chicken grill, creating a striking visual contrast against the sizzling, golden chickens. this snapshot encapsulates a whimsical, yet poignant, interplay of life and culinary tradition, wrapped in the warm hues of a mediterranean afternoon.

In the bustling courtyard of Juliet’s House in Verona, Cristina adjusted her camera with practiced precision. Her job was simple—capture fleeting moments of tourists standing on the famous balcony, dreaming of love and legend. The laughter, the hopeful gazes, the whispered lines from Shakespeare—all framed within her lens, all ready to be sold as a keepsake.

She had seen thousands of faces, each one seeking a piece of romance to take home. Some kissed, some posed dramatically, others just stood there, lost in thought. Cristina didn’t judge. Love, real or imagined, was good for business. With a click, another memory was frozen in time, waiting to find its owner.

Probably one of my favorite photos I took so far. Love the pollen and wings details.

This photograph exudes an understated elegance that pulls the viewer into a study of texture and form. The prickly pear cactus, with its layered, paddle-like segments, stands in stark relief against the smooth, weathered wall. The placement within the ornate planter adds an element of human presence—a reminder of how nature finds its place even within defined, rigid boundaries. Captured on Fomapan 100, the grain is fine, allowing every detail of the cactus’ dimples and the plaster’s cracks to speak in sharp contrast.

The composition is balanced, with the coarse concrete step and grate adding a subtle, utilitarian touch to the scene. The light, likely natural and diffused, casts soft shadows that prevent the image from feeling too sterile. Instead, it emphasizes the quiet resilience of this plant, symbolizing both fragility and toughness in a single frame. The textures captured feel almost tangible, bridging the visual experience with a desire to touch the cool, rough surfaces.

There’s an echo of André Kertész in the simplicity here—a recognition of beauty in the mundane, the play between the geometric and the organic. It's a visual poem, speaking through the language of light, shadow, and texture. The minor imperfections, like the peeling paint, add character and remind us of the passage of time.

from within the cedric grolet & airelles bakery, this image captures a quintessential moment of modern vacationing. a woman, stylishly dressed in a cherry-print dress, balances her iced coffee while snapping a photo with her phone. the bakery, celebrated and buzzed about on social media, attracts numerous influencers who photograph themselves or the sumptuous pastries. this scene, set against a backdrop of freshly baked croissants and tarts, encapsulates the phenomenon of digital-age travel, where the experience is as much about capturing and sharing as it is about savoring the moment. the high price and the ensuing mixed reviews on google speak to the tension between expectation and reality.

captured during a late afternoon photowalk in el arenal, this poignant image showcases a man leaning against an atm, his body language conveying a mix of frustration and resignation. the stark black and white contrast emphasizes the shadows and textures, adding depth to the scene. the title, "gimme more ... or something," encapsulates the universal human experience of seeking and needing more, whether it be money, time, or answers. this photograph tells a powerful story of modern life's struggles and the silent battles fought in public spaces.

a dog pulls eagerly on its leash, its leap appears as if it's being drawn into the light. the man leading it steps half out of the deep shadow into the bright light that spills over the old stonework. the scene speaks of an unexpected discovery, almost as if a hidden moment is dragged into the light. the interplay between light and dark across the rough stones and the smooth street captures the contrast between concealed and revealed moments â the balance of light and shadow, visible and invisible, known and unknown.

I really wish the day that they picked was an overcast day. As the sun kept poking in and out of the clouds.
