An exhibit of kinetic sculptures by Theo Jansen that can move on their own at the Chicago Cultural Center
Photographed in captivity. You can see a male and a female (under the long arms) reared from larvae from Greece.
I know the green is way Sci-fi but I like the capsule thing. I took a lot of these shots and this is the only one I liked.

My latest self-portrait is a recreation and personalization of the 16th century tapestry "Unicorn In Captivity." There is security for me, and approval from proper society, if I stay inside the fence. Outside is freedom to be my strange, unique self, to be judged, frowned upon, and celebrated. The chain on my wrist and the low fence does not really keep me in captivity. My fear of disapproval and risk keeps me in there. The outside is unknown and dark, yet holds promise of excitement and beauty.
Lough Derravaragh, Co. Westmeath. This large and distinctively shaped lake is known for its role in the Irish legend, the Children of Lir, where King Lir's sons Aodh, Fiachra and Conn, and daughter Fionnuala - were turned into swans for 900 years by their jealous stepmother Aoife. They spent the first 300 years at this lake, which was near their father's castle.
October 29 , 2018 - Bottlenose Dolphins Capture – Taiji, Japan
Taiji: This morning the pod of bottlenose dolphin that was driven in to the cove yesterday was subjected to a brutal live capture selection, which took over four hours. Several of the dolphins were aggressively grabbed and netted, then dragged under the tarps for trainers to inspect. Many of the dolphins exhibited signs of extreme stress during this grueling event.
A total of 15 dolphins were taken for captivity; these individuals were forcefully taken from the rest of their pod, made up of other dolphins they are closely bonded to. The remaining dolphins in this broken pod were driven back out to sea.
6 of the captured dolphins were taken to Moriura bay and the other 9 dolphins taken to the Taiji harbor sea pens.
At least 1 dolphin taken to the harbor has died, indicated by tarps drawn at the butcher house. There was no intentional slaughter this morning, this dolphin and any others that may have been taken to the butcher house died as a result of the capture process. Cove monitors have confirmed that at least 6 dolphins are in the harbor pens. The team will continue to be on watch for the rest of the captured dolphins throughout the day.

This looks more sad than it is!
It was shot at the Matang Wildlife Centre, Sarawak, Borneo. Here they actually help animals hurt in the wild, but this was such a striking motif that I had to shoot it!
detail from a drawing by the "outsider" artist Martín Ramírez, who produced a brilliant body of work while institutionalized for (supposed) schizophrenia. Seen in wonderful exhibition at the Institute of Contemporary Art in LA, ending on 12/31/17: www.theicala.org/en/exhibitions/1-martin-ramirez-his-life...
