A Black-capped Chickadee was trying to grab a few bites at one of the feeders at Strawberry Plains Audubon Center in Holly Springs, Mississippi. Okay, so it's on a feeder. I hadn't photographed these in a while. ~ view large

Just a few minutes north of Cadaques. We had too little time to enjoy this beautiful area, and Noah fell asleep right after leaving Cadaques, so walking around was not an option. We will have to come back for sure.

The Red-capped Lark, Calandrella cinerea, is a species of short grassland including uncultivated agricultural areas that occurs throughout the whole of South Africa. The red feathers on its head are often raised in a crest when the bird is agitated.

It is omnivorous, but seeds dominate its diet that also includes insects, foraged on bare ground. It moves with short runs as it searches for food.

It is found in flocks which sometimes number hundreds of birds when not breeding.
