Like most December acorns, all that's left are the caps. The squirrels have eaten the nutmeat or stored it away for the long winter.
I was walking in the backdoor of my parent's and saw dad's cancer survivor hat hanging on the fire extinguisher....it made me laugh. We got a good report on him. Two of the places they ran test on were benign....one was malignant. The doctor assured us it could be treated. Once again, he's a true survivor!
The Dusky-capped Flycatcher is a lot smaller than our other Myiarchus flycatchers, has less rufous in the tail than all except La Sagra's, and more yellow on the belly than Ash-throated and La Sagra's. Busy foraging while we watched, making a photo difficult. Taken across the road from Mallard Lake, in Golden Gate Park, San Francisco.
