Panther cap in Epping Forest - very similar to the blusher which is edible - so beware any confusion. The panther cap is not fatal but it could make you feel a bit sick and may induce hallucinations.

Might be a very common bird it almost all North American areas south of me, but this little black-capped chickadee (Poecile atricapillus) is a real rarity around my feeders. I haven't seen one in my backyard for more than a decade.
Much more common in my area is the more muted brownish boreal chickadee (Poecile hudsonicus).
White-capped Redstart is a member of the Old World Flycatchers family that has a specific habitat requirement of rocky mountain watercourses. Both sexes of these birds have a white cap and are otherwise black except for chestnut underparts, rump, and upper part of the tail. They do the typical redstart behaviour of flicking and flaring the tail, which is thought to flush out insect prey. This species is known for its piercing call, necessary in a noisy environment of rushing water. This individual was seen on the creek near the Rong Fai Fa Ban Khun Klang Restaurant in Doi Inthanon National Park, Chiang Mai province, Thailand.

Little flocks of Black-capped Chickadees enliven the winter woods with their active behavior and their cheery-sounding chick-a-dee callnotes as they fly from tree to tree, often accompanied by an assortment of nuthatches, creepers, kinglets, and other birds.

Cap'n Fear getting an earful from Maggie. She wanted a picture with him, but he was none too keen to oblige after she told him that the Bucs suck compared to the Cowboys.
Actually the guy didn't want his picture taken. He kept sticking his hands up in front of my camera, or holding pieces of paper up to my lens. He could use a class from Ray from the Devil Rays on how to be a mascot. The DRays stink, and you know the mascot has to hear all about it, but Ray doesn't turn down a snapshot.

The red-capped parrot is a species of broad-tailed parrot native to southwest Western Australia. It was described by Heinrich Kuhl in 1820, with no subspecies recognised. Wikipedia
The male is a gaudy medium-sized parrot, dark green above with a red cap, lime green cheeks and rump, blue-purple breast and red underparts. The female is duller, with a greenish crown and cheeks and pale mauve underparts. Both have a distinctive long pale bill, with a long upper mandible, giving them the common name of Hookbill. They are known as King Parrots in WA. Their flight is undulating and fluttering. When disturbed, they will fly to the top of nearby trees and perch in a typical upright stance, calling loudly.

A Red-capped Plover plucks a sandworm from the wet sand along the shoreline. These birds use their sensitive feet & sharp eyesight to detect & catch sandworms as they move through the sand. I watched this female slowly tapping the sand with one foot before she plunged her bill into the sand & came up with this sandworm.
