A Red-capped Plover plucks a sandworm from the wet sand along the shoreline. These birds use their sensitive feet & sharp eyesight to detect & catch sandworms as they move through the sand. I watched this female slowly tapping the sand with one foot before she plunged her bill into the sand & came up with this sandworm.

With winter getting closer, this and many other Chickadee's in the group are putting on the feedbag. I was fortunate enough to catch this one sitting still just long enough for a photo. The Chickadee has one of the most complex communication calls in the avian world and is certainly a pleasure to listen to.

That feeling when you step on Lego!
This male Red-capped Plover was not impressed when a rival male landed in his territory & sounded a stern warning.
Going back to the January trip for throwback Thursday, Cap Dramont, France, a morning long exposure under stormy weather, and 2 post sunset frames. The island with the tower is Ile D'Or, the inspiration for the L'Ile Noire segment (supposedly in Scotland) of Tintin comic books, for those of us old enough to grow up reading them. Below wikilink (in French):
