The manufacturer of the MG was originally a dealer of the Morris Motor Company, and this dealer began independently producing sports cars in 1924.

The basis of which was to lower the chassis of a Morris Cowly while adding a sporty body.

With this design named "MG", an abbreviation of "Morris Garage" the manufacturer became synonymous with the term "sports cars" and this brand name was promoted through many succesful racing events.

Due to the enormous succes with their sports cars, MG outgrew its home for three times, but in 1935 all of the MG's holdings were sold to the car manufacturer "Moris Motor Company".

MG would never be the same after that as fewer new models were made and participation in racing was discontinued.

The real death blow to MG was inflicted by British Leyland which squandered the illustrious name in the 1970s because it only produced characterless cars and stopped putting the famous MG- emblem on their cars.

Since 2011, Chinese carmaker "SAIC- Motors" became the owner of the MG brand name, and in 2011 the characterless MG-MG-6 reappeared in the United Kingdom.

This was followed in 2019 by the MG-ZS-EV SUV, but this model is also one of a dozen in a dozen........

Hillsboro's Orpheum Theatre opened as the 600 seat capacity Fellis Theatre in the 1920’s. It operated as a vaudeville house with a combination of live acts and movies. It was renamed Orpheum Theatre in 1929. By the early-1940’s it was operated by the Frisina Amusement Co. It ran continuously until 2000 and closed for about two years. In 2002, new seats and DTS stereo was added in addition to marquee restoration.

A new operator took over in 2003 and the theatre is more vibrant than ever with almost a cult following of regular customers from as far away as St. Louis and Springfield, IL. The balcony was converted to a second auditorium in the early-1980’s and is still that way.

Hillsboro is the seat of Montgomery County. This south central Illinois city is located 50 miles south of the Illinois State Capitol in Springfield, and 65 miles northeast of St. Louis, Missouri. Health care and social assistance, public administration, and finance and insurance are Hillsboro's largest industries. The population of Hillsboro at the 2020 Census was 5,808, and the population of Montgomery County was 28,288.

The Plaza de toros de la Real Maestranza de Caballería de Sevilla is a 12,000-capacity bullring in Seville, Spain. During the annual Seville Fair in Seville, it is the site of one of the most well-known bullfighting festivals in the world. It is a part of the Real Maestranza de Caballería de Sevilla, a noble guild established for traditional cavalry training.

The ring itself is considered one of the city's most enjoyable tourist attractions and is certainly one of the most visited. As a stage for bullfighting, it is considered one of the world's most challenging environments because of its history, characteristics, and viewing public, which is considered one of the most unforgiving in all of bullfighting fandom.

Construction began in 1749 of a circular ring on Baratillo Hill to replace the rectangular bullring that was previously located there. In 1761, the construction began to incorporate ochavas (each ochava being equivalent to four arches). At this early stage, the construction supervisors were Francisco Sánchez de Aragón and Pedro y Vicente de San Martín. The inner facade of the plaza (called the Palco del Príncipe or Prince's Box) was completed in 1765. This 'box' consists of two parts: the access gate through which the successful bullfighters exit, and the theater box itself, which is reserved for the exclusive use of the Spanish Royal Family. The topmost part is composed of four arches over which is built a half-orange vault, whose topmost portion is covered by white and blue tiles. The sculptural group that concludes the composition is the work of the Portuguese sculptor Cayetano de Acosta. The Palco was built for the Infante de España, Felipe de Borbón, son of Felipe V and Isabel de Farnesio.

When Carlos III prohibited bullfighting celebrations in 1786, work on the sculptures was halted, even though only one-third of the plaza had been completed at the time. The old Palco de la Diputación (earlier called the Palco de Ganaderos or Herdsmen's Box) is also from this period and is situated over the toriles gate and in front of the Palco del Príncipe.

After 34 years the cover of the launching slips of half of the ring was finished, to the left and right of the Palco del Príncipe; being easily viewed from the cathedral and the Giralda it was reflected in a great number of stamps of the time. By 1868 the Palco de la Diputación was in such a lamentable state that Italian sculptor Augusto Franchy undertook the improvement himself, building a new area with a marble balustrade and the crest of the Real Maestranza de Caballería. The construction of five balconies to each side of the Palco de la Diputación was also added where the ring's clock is currently situated. The construction of the ring was completed in 1881; two thirds was constructed in stone, with the remainder in wood.

Between 1914 and 1915 the stone grandstands were redone in brick under the direction of Sevillian architect Aníbal González. All the rows were reconstructed with a smoother slope. Ten to twelve rows of shaded seating were constructed as well as fourteen rows in the sun and three rows of barrier. A row of armchairs were built in the superior part of the shaded area, in front of the theater boxes.

A view towards the Dom Luis 1 bridge is one of the Porto icons, pobably thé icon. “It was at the time of its construction, the longest arch span in the World, at 172 m and remains the longest-spanning iron arch to this day. It represents the swan song of wrought iron bridges, as at the start of the 20th century stronger steel of more consistent quality would almost entirely replace the use of wrought iron in bridge construction.” (from: A critical analysis of the design and construction of the D Luis 1 bridge, Porto – J J Wells, (2011, University of Bath).

I have been spending some late afternoon, early evening time in a pretty secluded spot on the Lake - bugs of many kinds all over me - trying to locate the Pied-billed Grebe, and watching for any other activity. If one sits still enough, long enough, something is bound to happen…

These very young Wood Ducks ambled onshore and were completely oblivious to me, at least initially. The female with them stayed on the water in a supervisory capacity. Eventually a few of them noticed me, and I slowly brought up my camera while going from sitting to lying down, all in an effort not to spook them. The little photo bomber in the bottom right seemed full of beans, and they stayed for a couple of minutes, before re-entering the water.

There are often three or four sets of Wood Duck young on the water at this time of the year. I especially enjoyed the brief interaction with these ones as I had to misfortune to see a similarly-young duck caught by a Snapping Turtle a couple of weeks ago. Initially I didn’t understand the screaming and thrashing, but with binoculars I ended up figuring it out. It took a while to get that out of my head - I know predation is all around in natural settings, but that was a really unpleasant experience. These guys - who I know may suffer the same fate - cheered me up for the few minutes they were there.

This was the first sailing of the year with Hurtigruten on one of their small vessels, MS Nordstjernen, suitable for dealing with sea ice in the spring. The ship has only 150 beds and sailed at 50% capacity on this trip, so plenty of opportunity to see some unforgettable sights. A very memorable voyage with non stop scenery to amaze and inspire.

The Moss Landing public marina and the natural gas powered electricity generation plant located in Moss Landing, CA at the midpoint of Monterey Bay. Its large stacks are landmarks, visible throughout the Monterey Bay Area. The plant is owned and operated by Houston-based Dynegy and currently has a generation capacity of 1020 MW (net) from its two combined cycle generation units.[3] It was once the largest power plant in the state of California, with a generation capacity of 2560 MW, before its two large supercritical steam units were taken offline. It is to be the site of a new battery storage power station for grid battery storage of over 567MW / 2,270MWh of power, potentially the world's largest when completed.

🇬🇧 Just east of the agora is the theatre. With a magnificent view over the Pamphylian plain, it is undoubtedly the most beautiful building in Termessos. It clearly has the characteristics of a Roman theatre, although it retains some of the layout of the Hellenistic period. The semicircular cavea (part of a Roman theatre or amphitheatre where the seating tiers are located) is divided into two parts by a diazôma (aisle that divides the seating tiers horizontally into two parts). There are eight rows of seats above the diazôma and sixteen below, giving an estimated capacity of between 4,000 and 5,000 spectators. An arched entrance connected the cavea to the agora. The southern parados (a passageway for the chorus and some of the actors) was vaulted in Roman times, while the northern parados has been preserved in its original open state.

He will communicate to them nothing but the contagion of his own obsessions, his aggressiveness, his ego-centeredness, his delusions about the ends and means, his doctrinaire prejudices and ideas.”

Another shuttle train loaded with thermal coal mined at the nearby Iron Senergy Cumberland Mine passes over Bridge #1, and alongside Whiteley Creek outside of Kirby, PA.

This unique and completely isolated railway began in 1976 under ownership of steel icon United States Steel, shuttling coal from their newly opened deep mine to Alicia Harbor in Alicia, PA along the Monongahela River, 17 miles away.

In 2020, current owner Contura Energy had announced their intentions to close the 40 plus year old mine by 2022, rather than invest in a new tailings pond which was nearing max capacity. Enter, Iron Senergy.

The sale from Contura to a completely unknown company, was a major alarm for the 700+ employees at UMWA Local 2300. Who is this Iron Senergy? What is it? Filings online showed that the company had just been created that same year. Its owners and C suite executives were unknown even. Public filings between this Iron Senergy and Contura had redacted the names involved with the mysterious company.

Contura couldn't wait to get Greene County, PA assets off of their hands. To the extent that the UMWA claims Iron Senergy was paid $50M to take over Cumberland Mine and other mining assets saving $169M in associated costs for Contura Energy, who after the sale would rebrand themselves to become Alpha Metallurgical Resources. Included in the sale was the nearby gargantuan Emerald Mine, which was closed in 2016, now flooded and full of water. 500 million tons of Pittsburgh No.8 coal reserves, a limited tailings facility (as mentioned earlier), the 17 mile long Cumberland Mine Railroad, it's Alicia Harbor and lastly the Labelle Transloading Facility which gave Iron Senergy access to transload from rail, to barge, then back to rail for loading onto CSX and NS trains increasing direct access for more markets.

In 2022 mining production reached over 6 million clean tons of coal, a substantial increase over the previous few years under Contura ownership. At time of purchase Cumberland Mine was operating 2 development segments and a single long wall miner. Iron Senergy executives made the decision to immediately bring in a 3rd long wall miner to increase production.

The moral change at the mine was instantaneous, creating a massive increase in productivity. 37% from continuous miners, and 20% in longwall mining. Since taking over in 2020 Iron Senergy has invested over $127M into expanding production of the property, with the most crucial investment being the building of a new tailings dump. In 2021, groundbreaking for CRDA #3 took place, allowing the Cumberland Mine facility to increase its life expectancy by another additional 20 years when completed.

The structure of the tower is unconventional, based on a triangle whose corners are growing up in steel columns, consisting of three tubes with a double steel wall, filled with concrete. They support nine 'pods' and three decks for transmitting equipment. One of the three pillars extends considerably higher than the others, and this provides both the necessary height for some antennas, along with the structure's rocket and gantry appearance. In its time it was a unique technology, which authors have patented.

The tower stands 216 metres (709 feet) high, altitude of the observatory is 93 m, the hotel room altitude is 70 m, restaurants altitude is 66 m, with a capacity of 180 people. Three elevators transport passengers at a speed of 4 m/s.

Three of the pods, positioned directly beneath the decks at the top of the tower, are used for equipment related to the tower's primary function and are inaccessible to the public. The remaining six pods are open to visitors, providing a panoramic view of Prague and the surrounding area. The lower three, approximately half-way up the length of the pillars at 63 metres (207 feet), house a recently refurbished restaurant and café bar.

Construction of the tower cost $19 million. It weighs 11,800 tons and is also used as a meteorological observatory. It is a member of the World Federation of Great Towers

Sylvenstein Dam is an earthen embankment dam in the Isar valley, in the alpine part of Upper Bavaria, Germany which impounds the Sylvenstein Reservoir (German: Sylvensteinspeicher).

Several hydropower plants were built in the tributary of the upper Isar river in the 1920s, for example at the Achensee and Lake Walchen Power Plant. Therefore, the river ran nearly dry during the dry season. This mainly affected the town of Bad Tölz. A reservoir was established to ensure a minimum level of water in the river. During the dry season a volumetric flow of 4 cubic metres per second is released to prevent the Isar from running dry. Additionally, the reservoir provides flood control for the Isar river between Bad Tölz and Munich.

The dam is 44 metres (144 ft) high and has a length of 180 metres (590 ft). It was built between 1954 and 1959. From 1959 on, the water was also used to drive a hydropower plant of 3.2 MW. The plant was upgraded in 2000 with new turbines to generate 3.8 MW.

During the 2005 European floods, because the maximum capacity of the reservoir was reached, more water than normal had to be released into the Isar river, but the flooding would have been more severe if the Sylvenstein Dam had not been present.

Jesus said in the gospels, "You can't put new wine in old wineskins". He was saying you can't go to a new level with an old way of thinking. For something new to happen, something has to resonate on the inside; your spirit man has to come into agreement with God and believe what the scriptures say. Psalm 115 says, "The Lord your God will increase you more and more."

In fact, Jesus said He came that we might have life to the full, in abundance, 'till it overflows. That means you're headed to three places; to a full life, an abundant life, an overflowing life. What type of container do you have ready to receive that overflowing life? If it's a little cup, it's time to get rid of that! You might think a barrel is big, but get rid of that, too! God has a barn load full of blessings in store for each one of you.

It's time to give God permission to increase you. God says that you are going to be most blessed. You're going to have the most peace, the most friends, the must fulfillment, the most resources, the most wisdom, and the most opportunity. Most blessed means you will not lack in any area. You may not have seen it yet, but if you'll stay in faith and make room, God says you're going to be the most blessed!

Without delving deep into history and politics, let's just say I'm a firm believer in dreams and oppose myths, especially national myths. The latest invasion is clearly fueled by myths, as clearly as was the one that happened 30+ years ago.

Here, a heavy transport aircraft Antonov An‍-‍225 Mriya (Dream) during boarding (although probably not at that time) 140 tons heavy power transformer made by Končar Power Transformers for the Philippine San Lorenzo power plant. The flight shortened the delivery time from 40-45 days to just two.

Taken from the observation terrace of Zagreb's airport, while trying to get as clear view as possible, November 2013.

Let's hope a new dream will be flying again, let's hope this invasion will stop soon.

Dimitrios (Greek Δημήτριος) is a Greek shipwreck famous due to its picturesque location on an easily accessible sandy beach near Gythio, Greece.

Dimitrios (previously named Klintholm), a small, 67-metre (220 ft) cargo ship of 965 gross register tons cargo capacity built in Denmark in 1950, was registered in the Prefecture of Piraeus, registration no. 2707. The ship belonged 76.75% to the Molaris Brothers (Greek: Αφοί Μόλαρη) and 23.25% to the Matsinos Brothers (Greek Αφοί Ματσινού). Dimitrios has been stranded on the beach at Valtaki (Greek Βαλτάκι) in today's Evrotas municipality in the prefecture of Laconia, Greece, since 23 December 1981.

There are many rumors about the ship's origins and how it got stranded on the beach. Most relate that the ship was used to smuggle cigarettes between Turkey and Italy. She was seized by the port authorities of Gythio and then deliberately released from the port and left to be dragged by the sea to the beach at Valtaki, about 5 kilometres (2.7 nmi; 3.1 mi) from the port of Gythio. She was then set on fire to hide the evidence of cigarette smuggling. Another, less common rumor speaks of a ghost ship of unknown origins.

However, according to a book written by the Honorary Chief of the Hellenic Coast Guard, Vice Admiral Christos Ntounis (1935–2010), Ta Navagia stis Ellinikes thalasses (translated as The shipwrecks of the Greek seas) there is more to be said about the true history of the ship.

In Ta Navagia stis Ellinikes thalasses (Volume B 1950–2000), Ntounis writes that the ship made an emergency docking at Gythio on 4 December 1980 because her captain needed access to a hospital due to a serious illness. However, after the ship's docking, financial problems arose with the crew, as did various engine problems, coupled with insurance measures imposed by various lenders. The crew was then fired and the task of safeguarding the ship was assigned to Georgios Daniil and Vasilis Parigoris.

The ship was docked at Gythio until June 1981, when she was declared unsafe due to wear on the docking ropes and starboard list due to water entering her hull. The port authorities asked for her to be moved to an anchorage outside the port for safety reasons, but the owners did not respond until November 1981. The book states that "at approximately 12:30 p.m. on the 9th of November 1981 the ship was swept about 2 [nautical?] miles [2.3 miles; 3.7 km] away due to severe weather conditions and it was temporary anchored". But the temporary anchorage did not last for long, as the ship was swept away again and finally stranded at its current location on the beach at Valtaki on 23 December 1981. The ship was then simply abandoned there and no attempts were made to recover her.

Just as New York has its yellow cabs and London its red buses, Lisbon has its trademark yellow trams – and those serving Route 28 are the most famous of all.

Riding tram 28 has become one of the city’s most popular activities. It’s a 40-minute journey back in time, over hills and through medieval streets, in vintage trams from the 1930s that are still an important part of the city's public transport network.

Line 28 was inaugurated way back in 1914, and all these decades later the service runs every five minutes or so. Queues of tourists form all day to jump on board and see the city from this unique perspective. The energy-clean tram is now an essential part of Lisbon's life, and the city would lose part of its soul without the constant rattling of these charismatic yellow boxes, each of which is built in wood and has a capacity for 20 seated and 38 standing passengers (although many more cram in).

With four pumpkins, two of them carved, gourds, Indian corn, almonds, pecans, peanuts, pumpkin seeds, corn, brazil nuts, hazel nuts and sunflower seed setting the stage, everyone felt like a star whenever a treat or two was discovered.

In case of this chipmunk there's no telling how many treats are packed into those cheeks.

One of our faves is this little Chipmunk who has taken up residence in our yard. He shows up most days, and when he spotted this Goodie Bowl loaded with all those peanuts and pecan halves he nutted up - both figuratively and literally!

He filled those cheeks to capacity multiple times, making countless trips back and forth.

Fair warning, there may be another shot or two posted of this epic day. LOL!

St. Peter's Basilica (Italian San Pietro in Vaticano) is a major basilica in Vatican City, an enclave of Rome. St. Peter's was until recently the largest church ever built (it covers an area of 23,000 m2 and has a capacity of over 60,000), and is one of the holiest sites in Christendom.

Ancient tradition has it that St. Peter's Basilica was built at the place where Peter, the apostle who is considered the first pope, was crucified and buried; his tomb is under the main altar. Other popes are also buried in and below the basilica. Contrary to what one might reasonably assume, St. Peter's is not a cathedral - the pope's cathedral is St. John Lateran.

History

The current location of St. Peter's Basilica is the site of the Circus of Nero in the first century AD. After Emperor Constantine officially recognized Christianity he started construction (in 324) of a great basilica in this exact spot, which had previously been a cemetery for pagans as well as Christians.

In the mid-15th century it was decided that the old basilica should be rebuilt. Pope Nicholas V asked architect Bernardo Rossellino to start adding to the old church. This was abandoned after a short while, but in the late 15th century Pope Sixtus IV had the Sistine Chapel started nearby.

Construction on the current building began under Pope Julius II in 1506 and was completed in 1615 under Pope Paul V. Donato Bramante was to be the first chief architect. Many famous artists worked on the "Fabbrica di San Pietro" (as the complex of building operations were officially called). Michelangelo, who served as main architect for a while, designed the dome, and Bernini designed the great St. Peter's Square.
