Turks-cap Lily (Lilium superbum) is a species of true lily native to the eastern and central regions of North America. It may be called the swamp lily or American tiger lily. It is one of the Turks-cap lilies, this naming coming from the reflexed shape of the flower petals. It grows up to 2.5 meters high, with up to 40 flowers on each stem. The flowers vary in color from yellow to orange, with red petal tips and reddish brown markings, with a green base. It is capable of growing in wet conditions.

A scene of snow capped rocks in a nearby brook. This is the day after our first heavy snowfall of the season. I think I was lucky to get this shot at just the right time of the day.

In the summer of ‘42 and at the height of his creativity, all of Einstein’s equations pointed in just one direction and there was no escaping their astounding conclusion. Next to the Theory of Relativity, he considered Cap’n Crunch with “Crunchberries” to be his greatest discovery.

In this famous newsreel photo, he sketched what he thought the packaging might look like. Unfortunately he did not live long enough to see his creation become an American household staple.
